and if you do not like Johnson, use Mike Iupati, G, Idaho or John Jerry, G, Ole Miss .
Or go Nate Allen, FS, South Florida or Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina

Ingram is an absolute stud also. Love watching Bama just because of those two. McClain reminds me of Jack Lambert.

Sergio Render is the one Im hoping for as far as interior line goes.

Wow, I'd be very surprised to see that draft.

Draft tek's ranking are way out of reality. They tighten up as we get later in the draft process. But currently having Burnett available in the mid 3rd is unlikely. Render and Boo Robinson in the 6th round, OK. So I cherry picked some studs that will help this team in round.

But wouldn't it be cool to have our entire secondary solidified in one draft? I could have gone the other way and taken lineman only. Buffalo is going through that growth process now.

TexanJedi 11-01-2009 09:25 AM

I may get flamed but what about the thought of drafting Tebow in round 2 (if available). My thinking is he could do all the short yardage stuff, learn behind Schaub, and get some Wild Cat looks, not to mention he is about as high character as you can get and unlike Carr I think he has the passion necessary to succeed. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.:)

Nconroe 11-01-2009 07:03 PM

The way the team seems to be maturing, depth stepping up when given opportunities, this may be a trade down and take best guy available draft. I dont know, but I agree getting solid CB and Safety for sure would be nice. I doubt that would be first four picks, two of first four more likely, but who knows. I think we are ok now at CB and Safety, but upgradeable for sure.

Think about it though, Reeves, Quinn, Molden, Bennett, McCain with Haden and Ghee, Plus Burnett and Lake behind Pollard and Barber at safety.

That is not a bad secondary, now it would be young and it will have issues with growth, but a solid top to bottom group. BTW Molden and Bennett might not make that group.

If we draft any players for the Secondary, I would like a resume that contains many collegiate interceptions. The one thing this defense really needs are players who can take the ball away.

That would take Ghee out, and Haden would is below average as a hawk.

Thomas could leave for the draft this year because he redshirted his freshman year...He probably needs another year of seasoning at Texas, and Mack's been pretty good at not having guys leave early, but if he keeps playing at a high level it might be hard for him not to come out...especially if Texas ends up national champions :D.

SS Klint Kubiak, 5-11, 200, Colorado State (XO)

;) MARK IT DOWN!

NBT 11-05-2009 03:03 PM

Molden has been a big dissapointment. He can't stay off the training table. Bennet just has not developed the way the team imagined he would. Secondary needs to be the primary area of focus. After that maybe offensive guards, and as always Dline.

HPF Bob 11-06-2009 02:48 PM

Okay, I clicked on the initial link for the first time and these guys are nuts.

Browns select Colt McCoy with the overall #2 pick? While they have Anderson and Quinn already? That's stupid. First, McCoy's not worth a pick that high (low-1st, early 2nd at best) but then to put him on a team where QB isn't the glaring need. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Then they show Tim Tebow going #9 to the Redskins. Granted, the Redskins may be that stupid but Tebow ought to be a 4th or 5th rounder. No way he does the same crap he does at Florida unless you're running the Wildcat as your base offense. He isn't the passer to be a quality NFL starter.

I was too busy laughing to see who anyone else picked.

I do agree, however, that Suh will probably be the overall #1 no matter who gets the pick.

mussop 11-10-2009 04:41 AM

My hopefulls for round 1 through 3.

1st rpund Rolando McLain LB Alabama
2nd round Selvish Capers OT West Virginia
3rd round Trevard Lyndley CB Kentucky

NBT 11-12-2009 01:28 PM

Oh, I don't know, but Tebow could easily turn out to be a Rothlesburger clone in the NFL. One thing is for sure, he is a very strong leader. No way he goes past the first round IMHO.

176 Robert Johnson S 6'3" 190 Utah
208 Gerald Williams OLB 6'4" 245 Tennessee

Lets try this again

16 Toby Gerhart RB 6'1" 235 Stanford
48 Vince Oghobaase DT 6'6" 312 Duke
80 80 Sergio Render OG 6'3" 320 Virginia Tech
112 Dan Doering OG 6'6" 300 Iowa
144 Dan Williams DT 6'3" 312 Tennessee
152 Andre Dixon RB 6'1" 208 Connecticut
176 Robert Johnson S 6'3" 190 Utah
208 Gerald Williams OLB 6'4" 245 Tennessee

Gerhart will give you a beast at RB. Oghobaase and Williams add size to the DTs. Render and Doering might not start their 1st year but they will in a year or two, and they have lot more upside than Studdard. Add Caldwell at OC and that should be a stud OL.

Dixon because you never have enough RBs.

I know, no safeties early and no CBs. I need size up the middle and the best way to do that is draft it.

Nconroe 11-24-2009 09:34 PM

painekiller 12-09-2009 01:05 AM

Draft Tek 12/8/09
But this time I trade down. They have us drafting #9, and nobody worth while to pick for at least 10 picks. IMO

I trade our #9 and next years #1 to NE for #21, 46, 52, 53

#21 Joe Haden, CB, 5-10, 190 , 4.40, Florida
#41 Dan Williams, NT, 6-2, 325, 5.25, Tennessee
#46 Jon Asamoah, OG, 6-4, 315, 5.10, Illinois
#52 *Evan Royster, RB, 6-0, 210, 4.45, Penn State
#53 *Kareem Jackson, CB, 5-10, 192, 4.45, Alabama

OL Brown 313, Asamoah 315, Caldwell 312, Pretus 315, Winston 315

DE Smith, Williams, Robinson, Williams

I cant imagine NE trading away multiple picks to move up. Thats like expecting us to draft a RB in the first round. :( But if they (or anyone) would I would be all over it. If im GM, going into this draft theres one key word that would define this draft for me.

R.U.N.

No team makes it far unless they can R.U.N. the ball when they NEED to R.U.N. and no team goes very far if they cant stop the R.U.N. when they NEED to stop the R.U.N.. So improving the interior of both lines my #1 goal. Finding a RB that can get tough yards after contact is #2 goal. Adding another physical DB that is a playmaker is #3 goal. My draft would look something like this.

#21 Mike Iupati OG 6'6" 330 Idaho Improves R.U.N. #1 goal
#41 Toby Gerhart RB 6'1" 235 Stanford Improves R.U.N. #2 goal
#46 Javier Arenas CB 5'9" 200 Alabama #3 goal
#52 Sergio Render OG 6'3" 320 Virginia Tech Improves R.U.N. #1 goal
#53 Vince Oghobaase DT 6'6" 312 Duke Improves R.U.N. #1 goal
#72 Dennis Pitta TE 6'5" 230 BYU O.D. insurance
#104 Boo Robinson DT 6'2" 326 Wake Forest Improves R.U.N. #1 goal
#136 Adam Ulatoski OT 6'8" 305 Texas Improves R.U.N. #1 goal
#168 Thomas Austin C/OG 6'3" 310 Clemson Improves R.U.N. #1 goal
#182 BPA
#200 BPA

Mike Iupati Instant starter/upgrade that can get a push in short yardage.

Sergio Render Instant starter/upgrade that can get a push in short yardage.

Thomas Austin C/OG 6'3" 310 Clemson - Everything people (not me) thought A Caldwell would be for a 6th round pick. I said Caldwell was overrated before we drafted him and he's done nothing to prove me wrong.

Adam Ulatoski OT 6'8" 305 Texas Very talented backup OT to groom pair with Butler for depth.

These 4 give us an OL that is very deep and talented. By far the most talented and deep OL we have ever had.

OT's Duane Brown Rashad Butler Eric Winston Ulatoski
OG's Render Iupati Mike Brisiel C. White
C's C. Myers Austin

Toby Gerhart Does anything really need to be said here?

Vince Oghobaase Solid rotation guy guy possible starter.

Boo Robinson Solid rotation guy guy possible starter.

These two replace Zgonina F. Okam giving us youth, athleticism and size and solid depth for the best rotation we have ever had.

DT's A. Okoye D. Robinson Oghobaase Boo Robinson S. Cody

Javier Arenas Gives us a another physical playmaking DB that allows us to let Robinson walk. He also allows us to get something in trade for Jacoby Jones as he is an excellent returner.

Dennis Pitta is a OD clone. Do we really want to go through the Daunte Robinson fiasco again? This guy has great hands and at 6'5" gives Schaub a huge target.

Isn't that the new arguement against Kubiak? That the top teams in the NFL do not run well, they pass well and set up the run with the pass. They run from multisets that they also pass from.

As for the defense, I agree totally.

New Draft Tek Mock from PK.

I am going to use the big board dated 12/3/09

#12 Sean Weatherspoon Missouri OLB43 6-2 245
#32 Dan Williams Tennessee DT43 6-2 322 trade 2011 #1 &#2

DraftTek.com has a new mock dated 12/15/09

This is theirs not mine.

#15 Brandon LaFell LSU WRF I have 2 WRs above him that are still on the board Dez Bryant, and Marshawn Gilyard
#47 Trevard Lindley Kentucky CB Solid pick IMO
#78 *Ryan Mathews RBF Fresno State
110 *Quan Sturdivant ILB North Carolina

My Cherry Pick Based on my opinion of need.
#15 Mike Iupati Idaho OG Instant upgrade at OG
#47 Trevard Lindley Kentucky CB
#78 J.D. Walton OG Baylor
110 Charles Scott RBF LSU
Your foundation of the inside OL is laid and solid youth.

Also IMO I would try to trade back into the 2nd with future picks in order to acquire one or more of the following :

#37 Jon Asamoah Illinois OG
#42 Sean Weatherspoon Missouri OLB43
#45 Dan Williams Tennessee DT34
#46 *Maurkice Pouncey Florida OC

Mike 12-18-2009 09:25 AM

PK,

I agree with your premise, but nobody takes a G at #15 and pays that signing bonus money at that spot.

NFL Draft Site has a new 7 rounder
