We've got some major decisions to make this offseason...and I think those decisions should be based on what you've done for me lately....

There's been a lot of talk about the team's taking a QB in the first round next year. The fact that the Texans can sign two mokes off the street and the offense does not look appreciably different than it did with the two hand-picked players the team brought in specifically (and paid) tells me all I need to know about BOB's and Smith's quarterback talent evaluation capabilities. If Moe and Curley are put in charge of picking a quarterback we'll be saddled for five years with some asshole who sucks and will set the organization back even further (and waste JJ's prime, which seems inevitable any way you look at it).

On a related note, their decision to IR Savage was a demonstration of incredible hubris and sad delusion.

This group of tight ends is a fking disgrace. The literally do more damage than positive production.

Arky 12-20-2015 02:16 PM

The ensuing kickoff is brought back to the 25 yard line.

-----------------------------------------------

Colt's ball at their 25.

Gore for almost 4. 2nd and 6 coming up.

Pass to AJ gets 4. 3rd and 2 coming up.

Pass to Dorsett gets 1. Colts will have to punt.

Mumph fields the punt and is downed at the Texan 10.

Arky 12-20-2015 02:31 PM

Texan's ball at their 10.

Pass to Hop gets 8.

End of the 3rd qtr.

---------------------------------------------

On 2nd and 2, pass to Hop is broken up, inc.

Pass to Hop goes all the way to the 46 yard line, 1st down.

Hunt caught for loss of 1.

Pass to Fido off the mark, inc.

Pass to Hop good for 10......about 1/2 yard short of the 1st down... Texans will go for it on 4th down..

Blue gets the handoff and is close.....1st down.

Pass to Griffin is broken up because of PI on the Colts. Ball is placed at the Colt 22.

Blue for about 6.

Handoff to Hunt on the sweep gets 3. 3rd and 1 coming up.

Flags presnap. 12-men on the Colts gives a 1st down at the Colt 8. Texans use a timeout with 10:43 left in the game.

Rollout and pass to Strong goes for the TD!

Texans 13, Colts 10

10:36 left in the game.

popanot 12-20-2015 02:33 PM

Jalen Strong sucks. Way suckier than Washington.

WMH 12-20-2015 02:33 PM

Very nice play call right there. Very tough to defend when a WR gets covered by a LB.

Leggo D!

chuck 12-20-2015 02:33 PM

It's too bad they had to burn that TO but at least they came back with a very nice play call.

Big Texas 12-20-2015 02:41 PM

Demps was entirely too deep...I can understand if that were TY

popanot 12-20-2015 02:41 PM

Goodness. 3rd and 10 and you let the guy find a cushion in the middle of 3 defenders. Come on D! You got to be better than that!

Big Texas 12-20-2015 02:42 PM

The corner sat on it...but the safety was just way out the play

Arky 12-20-2015 02:46 PM

Colts bring the ensuing kickoff back to the 21. Flag is down..... blindside block on the Colts, 1/2 the distance.

--------------------------------------------

Colt's ball at their 11.

Pass to Allen gets 5.

Pass to Moncrief gets 6 and the 1st down.

Hasselbeck can't find a receiver and throws it away, inc. 2nd and 10 coming up.

Pass to AJ off the mark, inc. 3rd and 10 coming up. 9:03 left in the game.

Pass to Moncrief is good for the 1st down at the Colt 42. Hasselbeck injured on the play.....injury timeout.

---------------------------------------------------

Whitehurst in at QB.

Pass to Hilton good for about 14 or so.... ball at the Texan 44.

Gore loses 3. 2nd and 13 coming up.

Whitehurst (sacked?) by Mercilus, flag on Colts for hands to the face is declined. 3rd and 13 coming up.

Pass to Moncrief is broken up by Bouye. Colts to punt.

Punt is fair caught at the Texan 6. 6:46 left in the game.

Let's run it down their throats, fellas.

Big Texas 12-20-2015 02:48 PM

I know we wanna milk the clock but we've gotta be creative...otherwise we'll just be giving the ball right back to them with plenty time...we seemed to better runs from the gun...maybe that's a thought...

Big Texas 12-20-2015 02:53 PM

If you haven't been...just keep an eye on our guards...they are getting destroyed. ..

Arky 12-20-2015 02:54 PM

Texan's ball at their 6.

Blue for about 3.

Blue for 4. 3rd and 3 coming up.

Pass to Hop gets the 1st down but flag is down..... "no flag" say the refs. Pagano throws the red flag that the ball was a catch..... Looks OK to me...

Challenge fails, 1st down Texans at their 21.

Blue caught for loss of 1. About 4:20 left in the game.

Blue for maybe 1. 3rd and 10 coming up.

Screen to Washington is dropped. Texans to punt.

Colts bring the punt back to around midfield.

Big Texas 12-20-2015 02:56 PM

That drop was one that gets you benched for the season...

popanot 12-20-2015 02:57 PM

OK, guys... Need a TD here!

Arky 12-20-2015 02:57 PM

Colt's ball at the Texan 49.

3:07 left in the game.

Hasselbeck's pass is batted down, inc.

Pass is caught and then fumbled! Texan's recover, KJ picks it up and returns it to the Colt 21!

2 minute warning.

Novak's 32-yarder is good.

Texans 16, Colts 10

1:56 left in the game.

Arky 12-20-2015 03:06 PM

The ensuing kickoff is brought back to the 17.

-------------------------------------------------

Colt's ball at their 17.

Deep pass is INT'ed by Bouye! Halleluejah!

Big Texas 12-20-2015 03:06 PM

These situations bother me...With somebody like TY Hilton

Big Texas 12-20-2015 03:07 PM

What the **************** was AJ doing lay your ass down...

Arky 12-20-2015 03:08 PM

Texan's ball at their 47.

Texans kneeling it.

Kneel #2.

Final score:

Texans 16, Colts 10

--------------------------------------

Finally.

Big Texas 12-20-2015 03:09 PM

Wow...who would have thought we would finally win in INDY with Weeden under center...I'll take it though...

popanot 12-20-2015 03:23 PM

Not that it mattered as far as the outcome, but how the hell the NFL let Hasselbeck back in that game is beyond me. You would think when a guy slams his head on the ground, holds his head like he's just been shot in the ear and then has to leave the game, they would just end his day right then and there.

Hence the moronic throw with the game on the line. Wasn't as bad as the Keenum incident, but the whole concussion spotter things needs work.

Whatevs.....W

1-13.....

Nconroe 12-20-2015 04:31 PM

Weeden looked OK for the glimpse we got. Really nice to finally win in Indy. Defense looking strong overall.

That pass he threw could have been fair caught. It's embarassing he is on the field there. It is tough to tell who the biggest idiot in Indy is between Irsay/Grigson/Pagano. It's hilarious they had Luck fall in their lap.

chuck 12-20-2015 10:34 PM

Hoyer came back in the game after an obvious concussion and did something equally disastrous. It happens all over the league.

I'm not sold on Luck being a, say, top-8 QB when healthy but we can have that discussion another time.

I really hope the team plays well behind whoever the QB will be and that they go into the playoffs 9-7. That actually wouldn't be so bad. I feel quite certain whover wins the NFC East will have a worse record.

If we're lucky and win out, maybe we'll get even luckier and have the Bengals in the first round. Easy W there as the Bengals always turn into the Bungles in the playoffs.

HPF Bob 12-21-2015 07:23 AM

I'd feel better going into the playoffs with Kirk Cousins under center than any of the four QBs the Texans have used. Heck, I'd feel better with RG3 at QB than the four QBs the Texans have used.

But, oddly enough, if the Texans actually do make the playoffs, they get home field for one game and if that opponent happens to be the Jets or the Broncos, they could even win that one. We've already beaten the Jets once and the Broncos are close to a freefall with no dependable QB of their own to run Kubiak's offense. (There was actually a Shiloh Keo sighting this week in Denver which means Kubes is now recycling our retreads).

And if that first-round victory means a return trip to Cincinnati, well, who's to say we couldn't get Yates to win there another time?

But it all boils down to beating the Titans and Jaguars first and I am betting we choke on one of the two and let the Colts reclaim the division.

HPF Bob 12-21-2015 07:29 AM

Hey, AngryDre - way to pick yourself a playoff team to finish your career on. :p

Beating the Bengals is getting boring, lacks any real challenge, too automatic. I want some fresh meat, maybe the Broncos.

Totally agree. It's not like he had a serious, season-ending injury. I get that they wanted to hold onto that IR-to-Return card as long as they could in case a critical player went down, but could they have not just held a roster spot open for him? I mean, I'm sure there have been players who have been inactive or have not played a snap all season, and do they really need a 3rd-to-5th backup at DL, LB, S, OL, TE that they couldn't find a waiver wire pick up if need be? It's much easier finding serviceable players (backups) at those position on waivers than a QB. It was a highly questionable move back then, which looks even worse now.

chuck 12-21-2015 10:30 AM

If Yates beats the Bengals in the playoffs this year I'll fly to the US and host a party at the bar of Bob's choosing.

I would rather have Cecil Shorts at quarterback than RGIII and I am not exaggerating. This is obvious but the Texans are not a team that's going to win based on its quarterback play (although it can certainly lose on it) so just get a guy back there who won't do anything too profoundly stupid and let's hope that the defense shows up. By the way, does anyone know when JJ gets the cast off, if ever?

Also, I can't derive any joy out of AJ's misfortune, even if it is the Colts. He is far and away my favorite Texan and I'd hoped he would find some team success at some point. It's difficult to measure just how irresponsible it was for the team to squander a top ten all time great receiver and give him a season and a half of decent quarterback play.

Yates tore his ACL. His playing days for the squad are likely done again.

I know that, hence the promise.

Apparently they don't read NFL injury reports on Morning Edition because Bob's still in the dark on this one.

I saw a great clip of Andre and Hopkins together after the game. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:14408905

The interview itself is worthless but it is awesome to see the joy on Andre's face when he sees Hopkins. I almost wish AJ could come home to work for the organization, but I don't wish that on anyone. Maybe in the future.

Yea that was actually kinda touching. Most reports are that Andre was a true big brother to Hop while they were together here in Houston. I sure hope Hop is named to this years pro bowl when they make the announcments tromorrow night. That too would probably bring a smile and tinge of pride to Andre.

HPF Bob 12-21-2015 04:23 PM

Signing with Indy was like an "up yours" to the organization that employed him for a decade. He's dead to me.

Guess the Texans were a little on the nose too saying Andre was a 40-catch guy this season. Iirc, he's sitting on 34 with two games to play. Plus he still hasn't won in Indy when the Texans were on the field.

In a bit more seriousness, knowingly taking this off-topic which will be its own thread at some point, 2015 has done nothing to improve Andre's HoF credentials. He just moved to 9th all time in yards (again, iirc, too lazy to click around), but this is a player in a crowded position when it comes to the HoF with just a pair of playoff wins. He deserves the HoF even if he never plays another down, but for his sake, I hope he finds a way to go out on his terms.
