Hey, Texans win. Amazing score.
|
Well, men, we have some problems (more than a few of which will be solved when Andre returns) but a win is a win. A division win is a division win, 3-0 in the division halfway through. There's a lot to like sitting here at 5-3. Rather than repeat my usual refrain that a better led team would be 8-0 I think I'm going to enjoy a solid division lead instead.
|
Thanks to Mr Tate, what should have been a yawner got a little too dramatic there at the end for Texans-fans.
|
Without two turnovers, this is a 24-0 yawner even with all the rest of the mistakes. We can do this again against the Browns to be 6-3. Nice.
|
Word is Sharpton is out for the year. GD !
But I think Reeds OK ? He was back in the game after he got hurt. |
Interesting to note that Houston and Tennessee have similar closing schedules. Houston has a bye week and a home date with Cleveland in hand while Tennessee has upcoming games with the Saints and Bills. Otherwise, they both have the same opponents the rest of the way. Of course, Houston has the game in hand vs. Tennessee and the return match is at home. :D

That might have been Kubiak's best coaching job of the season.
We bludgeoned them with the run game which kept them from teeing off on our QB even though we got nothing downfield (despite a number of shots we took). This looked like the opposite of Baltimore abandoning the run and hanging Flacco out to dry against a very good defense. If we hadn't fumbled twice we would have crushed them, instead we cruised to a 10 point win. Very solid effort coming after an emotional high last week. It makes me much more confident against Cleveland this coming week. 6-3 heading to the bye looks likely. |
Player execution was horrible and we still won. That's a pretty good thing but against a better team it won't fly.
The sketchiness was on the players today. Kubiak called a good game. Loved taking multiple shots down the field. Too bad Schaub either overthrew or underthrew. |

Tate needs to grow up. That fumble against a better team could have really turned the momentum today. |
Schaub
This game illustrates the two Schaubs. The Oline blocking was just barely adequate, so he struggles in the passing game. The Oline block beautifully in the Tennessee game, and Schaub was superb. Moral: pressure him and he will make a lot of low throws, and other mistakes, making the game a nailbiter.

Yep. That Dreesen TD was unbelievable.
And the shoestring grab by OD to "seal the deal" so to speak. I hope Schaub's ills are just due to Andre being out. Come back soon, 'Dre. |
I am a firm believer that when AJ comes back, you will see Schaub's numbers rise, as Dre is usually good for a 6 of 9; 7 of 10 type target to catch ratio.
I was @ the game, and based on the situations of each, I had no problem with the 2 failed challenges. In looking at the big board in the stadium, it was questionable at best, and based on the situation of each individual play, they were worth it. Didn't work out, but didn't cost us a ball game. Brian Freaking Cushing.....WOWZERS! That dude is nails. I'll tell ya, I was very impressed with the revamped Jags D. Those guys were flying around pretty good. Not sure it will be the same next time around or not, especially since we "should" be at full arsenal for the rematch. Think about that for a second.....we have had our full complement of offensive firepower for 1 quarter the entire season, yet we are still ranked in the Top 10 at the mid way point. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Tate - You have GOT to hold on to the ball kid. Plain and simple. Jason Allen proved yet again that he has better ball skills/awareness than Kareem. Kareem made a couple of good plays on the ball as well, but Allen has some sort of a knack. He showed it last year as well. BUT, for whatever reason, the coaching staff still believes in Kareem, so we will likely keep bitching about it..... 5-3 gents. All things considered, pretty happy with this start, sure hope we don't lose anyone else. This IR thing is getting a little out of hand. |
I'm noticing Schaub has some sort of brace or support on his throwing shoulder for the past few weeks and wonder if this has anything to do with some of the ducks he has been throwing. It almost seems like he's more accurate when he zips the ball downfield but when he tries to aim touch passes to short receivers, the throws look ugly.
|
Schaub's shoulder bothering him could, or might not, be the reason he plays like an All-Pro one week, and arguably has a bad game the next. And yeah, he even ran in a two yard TD. He still needs to be more consistant on a week to week basis to go very far, if and when, We reach the playoffs.
And, oh yes, Dre would make any NFL QB look better. Hope he is back by this next game against Cleveland. |
