This game is just extremely too close for me...
If it comes down to FGs... |
Ford brings the kickoff back to the Raider 39.
McFadden for 8. McFadden for about 11, 1st down. McFadden for 19. Ball at the Texan 19. Bush gets 1. 2nd and 9 coming up. End of the 3rd quarter. |
Pass to DHB goes through his hands, inc. 3rd and 9 coming up.
Raiders use a timeout because the play clock was running out. They have one left. ------------------ On 3rd and 9, pass to Schilens goes for the TD. False start -5 on the extra point makes the Raiders kick it again. This time extra point is good. Raiders 22, Texans 17 14:50 left in the game. |
My question now is, "who is going to wake this offense up?"
We all know that is not Kubiak's strong suit... |
Answer: no one...
It is clear that our o-line is getting "abused"... |
Panthers have gone ahead of the Saints 27-23.
-------------------- Janikowski's kickoff goes out of the endzone. Texans ball at their 20. Foster for no gain. Schaub can't find anyone open and scrambles for no gain. Makes it 3rd and 10 coming up. Schaub's pass to Dreessen comes up short. Texans have to punt. Moore fields the punt and is brought down at the Raiders 30. 13:22 left in the game. |
Games like these are the reason the Texans offense cannot be considered elite...
When faced with adversity, majority of the time we cannot/will not overcome. This game should have been a push over, yet here we are in the 4th qtr down by 5... We have to learn how to step on the weak... Wow, now a fake punt...clearly they want to put this game away... |
McFadden for 3. 2nd and 7 coming up.
Pass to Ford gets 5 or 6. 3rd and 1 coming up. McFadden TFL -2. Raiders have to punt on 4th and 3. Raiders do the fake punt and it goes for 33 yard and a 1st down. Ball at the Texan 28. McFadden gets 4. Pass to Ford goes inc. 3rd and 6 coming up. Raiders use their final timeout at 10:06 of the 4th quarter. |
Campbell's pass goes inc. 4th down so Raiders to go for the FG.
Janikowski's 42-yarder is good. Raiders 25, Texans 17 10 minutes left in the game. |

Janikowski's kickoff goes out of the endzone, touchback. Texans ball at their 20.
Schaub's pass is tipped at the LOS, inc. 2nd and 10 coming up. Schaub is hit as he passes, ball goes inc. 3rd and 10 coming up. Should've been PI on the Raiders... Texans use timeout #2. Schaub's pass to JJ goes inc. Texans have to punt. Moore brings the punt all the way back to the Texan 41. 20 yards on the return. |

Oakland may be an OK team, but they are nowhere near what we were expected to be... That's the problem, what we are expected to be always turns out to be not quite accurate... My point is that great teams should be able to overcome injuries... The only thing the Raiders have going for them is McFadden and he has been pretty much held in check before the 4th qtr... Spin it how you want...We should have smashed these fools... |
Campbell can't find a receiver and throws it away. 9:21 left in the game.
McFadden TFL -4 by DeMeco. Makes it 3rd and 14. Campbell's pass is caught out of bounds, inc. Raiders have to punt. 8:30 left in the game. JJ fair catches at the Texan 5. |
I knew the Texans were gonna lose the minute I heard about Al Davis' death. I had a feeling the Raiders were gonna come out playing really hard to honor Al Davis... Im switching to another game, this shit is awful.
|
Raiders have taken over the game in the second half and are just outplaying us. Is their D that good, or is our offense overrated, or do we miss Andre that much ? And how does a 6'6" QB get that many passes blocked/tipped ?
|
If Shaub would stop throwing the ball to freaking Jacoby Jones...maybe we'd be alright...LOL
Shaub is just all off target...once he gets that glazed look in his eyes he just gets worse and worse... |
Pass to OD gets 3. 2nd and 7 coming up.
Pass to OD gets 13 and a first down. Schaub's pass to OD goes inc. 2nd and 10 coming up. Pass is tipped at the LOS and goes inc. 3rd and 10 coming up. Dump off to Foster goes for nice gain, 23 yards and a 1st down. Pass to DA off his hands inc. 2nd and 10 coming up. Pass to Dreessen gets 9. Makes it 3rd and 1 coming up. 6 minutes left in the game. Dump off to Foster goes for nice gainer, to the Raider 32, 1st down. Foster TFL -4. Makes it 2nd and 14. Pass to OD goes for 5. 3rd and 9 coming up. Pass to JJ goes inc. Texans to go for it on 4th and 9. PI on the Raiders gives the Texans a first down. |
Ball at the Raider 13.
OMG, pass to Vickers is dropped. Makes it 2nd and 10. Pass to JJ in the endzone goes inc. Brisiel is down on the play. Looks like ankle... 3rd and 10 coming up. Schaub gets swarmed for a sack. Loss of 8. Texans to go for the FG. Rackers 40-yarder is good. Raiders 25, Texans 20 2:56 left in the game. |
I guess Kubiak is trying hard to justify the signing of Jacoby Jones
|
Hartmann's kickoff goes out of the endzone. Raiders ball at their 20.
McFadden for 1. 2nd and 9 coming up. Texans use their final timeout. --------------- On 2nd and 9, deep pass to Moore goes inc. McFadden is tripped up by GQ for a TFL! Raiders have to punt on 4th and 14. 2 minute warning. |

JJ fields the punt and loses 2. Texans ball at their 37. 1:50 left in the game.
--------------- Screen to Foster gets 11. Schaub is sacked. Flag on the play. Facemask on Texans is declined. 2nd and 19 coming up. 1:22 left. Play is under review, cause whoa, Raiders had too many men on the field... Erases the sack but the facemask penalty is enforced. Long story short, it is 1st and 25 for the Texans at their 33. Pass to KW gets 27 and a 1st down. Pass to JJ comes up short but roughing the passer gives the Texans +15. Ball at the Raider 26 with 54 seconds left. Bad snap loses 13. Pass to Foster goes inc. 29 seconds left on 3rd and 23. |
Ball is caught at the 5 by Dreessen!
Schaub spikes it with 7 seconds left! OMG, Schaub throws the INT in the endzone. Game over. Damn. Final score: Raiders 25, Texans 20 |
Ugly, ugly loss. Didn't like the play call at the end at all. You can run a fade first and then the same play on second down.
|
Terrible. Terrible play call and decision. This team really misses Dre
|
You were playing against a team whose dead owners words were "just win baby". It would have taken out best erffort to win today and obviously we didn't get it.
|
The Raiders defensive line played outstanding. They were putting a mean rush on us all game long. Tipped passes and QB pressures had Matt Schaub really antsy all game long.... Congrats to the Raiders organization for a great victory in memory of Al Davis... Only reason I'm not raging is because all AFC South teams lost.
|
WOW.....
Am I wrong in assuming that he could've just ran that in... Why not throw the ball out the back of the end-zone when he noticed Foster covered out the backfield... Why was Shaub trying to make Jacoby the star of this game... I can only assume that the offense loves this last minute crap... |
We had it right there for the taking, and whiffed on the opportunity.
OK so we are basically sitting at 3-3 (unless you think we go into Baltimore next week and beat the Ravens), as we travel to Nashville 2 weeks from today to play the team that looks to be our principal competition for the AFC South this year. That will be our biggest game to that date. |
It is unfathomable to me why Schaub didn't run it in.
It's also unfathomable to me how Schaub, the OL, and Jacoby Jones had SUCH AWFUL games. It's also unfathomable to me how we keep getting injuries to critically important players. Come back soon, Andre and Mario. |
If there were any questions about where Shaub should be on the best QBs list, I hope today has answered them for you.
Shaub has all the tools to be considered a great QB, EXCEPT the mentality of a winner. Name any other top 5 QB in the same situation who would not have won this game on that last play. |
You are crazy if you think Schaub could have run that in. I don't think he would have crossed the 3. An incomplete pass there ends the game. So does getting tackled. So I am really not down on the INT. I do think it is a bad play call. Run a fade first to make sure you get 2 cracks, not a play that eats up all :07.
And this loss is squarely on the OL (with an assist from the play calling combo of Kubiak and Dennison). They got killed in the run game and in the pass game. The 51 called passes and ONE 4th quarter run did not help. Schaub played ok considering the circumstances. No run game. No pass protection. No receiver who could get downfield and the Raiders squatting on short routes. And with all that he comes up with over 400 yards. His options were so limited he completed over 100 yards in passes to Dreesen. I definitely don't put it on him. We are simply not built to play without AJ. He is irreplaceable. Nobody else stretches the defense and we become a horizontal passing game. Jacoby Jones runs terrible routes (watch how often he is coming out of a break and the ball is a good 5 yards away because he rounded out of the route instead of being sharp). He also has no ball skills (kind of a need for a big play guy). |

If Schaub doesn't hesitate, he would have made it.

The ball was on the 5 yard line. There was only 1 player who could have even made the tackle and he was still in the endzone when Shaub rolled out. You are telling me that Shaub made the right decision by throwing to a completely covered receiver who had not made a single play (receiving or returning) all day, rather than taking the chance at running 5 yards with no one within 4 yards of him? Yes you are right the OLine got destroyed today...BUT we still had a chance to win it; and the game was on Shaub's shoulders to do it. AND he didn't...like so many times before... 400 yards....SO WHAT... He threw for 4,000 last year... |

But it's better than throwing a stupid pass and having it end up in a dumb ass pick. Give yourself a chance to win. Run the damn ball in. |
Quote:
But are you on the Matt Shaub for president campaign... Believe me I like the guy and his skill set...However, This game was clearly on his shoulders to win...maybe a pump fake to freeze the defender...maybe he continues towards the sideline to give the receiver more time to get open...maybe he changes the play call...I DON'T KNOW...but what I do know is that this loss was on him in the last seconds...and he would probably be the first to admit that. |
Schaub is what he is. If you want a new qb because his lack of mobility holds us back, I would listen to the argument. But he isn't going to magically get fast because we want him to score on the last play. If he tries to run he gets unceremoniously dropped before sniffing the goalline.
