It's not just that the Dallas Cowboys have those five Super Bowl trophies and that beautiful new stadium and the best-looking uniforms in all of professional sports.

The Texans had a chance to eclipse the Cowboys — if only for a moment — by drafting Vince Young. But as Texans owner Bob McNair explained, Young played only in the shotgun at the University of Texas, and my heavens, there were just too many questions about that.

I love it when Richie provokes and infuriates the local Texan fans because I'm one of them. Many of them are so jealous of the Cowboys and go nuts when a Cowboy fan like him talks his trash, while I'm honestly indifferent about them and am much more interested in beating our real rivals, Peyton & the Colts. They've got a lot more to do with us not getting into the playoffs than any Cowboy team does. Had we just split with the Colts in each of the last 3 years we are almost surely in the post-season one or more of those years.
BTW, the Cowboys are riding high this year because in part they cleaned up their act and became more like the Texans when they got rid of their high-profile losers like TO and Pacman. But the biggest difference between this year and last is they have relatively few injuries to their key players.
The Vince Young issue is still a big question mark, even 4 years later ? I do wonder how different our teams destiny might have been if they had drafted
VY ? Who's to say, he may yet end up being a Texan ?

He's a "journalist" ( I use the term advisedly) who's doing anything and everything he can to sell newspapers, increase blog-membership, etc to retain his job with the Houston Chronicle, a newspaper that recently has had very signifcant cost cuts to include employee layoffs as have most publication around the country.

Yeah, I read this in the morning paper. I thought, "well, Richie has finally gone off the deep end"....

He used to keep his blog persona separate from his column/TV/radio persona. Not anymore..... just one big ol' sensationalist/flip-floppin'/pot stirrin'/reader provokin' mess, now.....

Check out the reader comments at the link - he's getting hammered. Probably just what he wants....

Poor Richard.

It's so difficult to get those fabulous ESPN gigs when the Houston teams just won't cooperate. The Yaoless, Macless Rockets are a snoozer, the Texans never get over the hump while the Astros are in decline. And all three teams are filled mostly with clean-cut good citizens. What's a poor muckraker to do when Houston is his beat? Bait Brett Myers into a shouting match, that's about all I can think of.

BTW, am I only the only who looks at Richard's blog photo and thinks "You know, if penises had faces, his is what one would look like."

Hehe, my response is leading so far. I didn't think he'd ever let that get through.

Buzzkill!

The joke's not as funny when you have to explain it.

I'm happy for cland's comment, yet dismayed so many readers have taken this writer's bait. cland called him a troll, and trolls hate being ignored.

Drayton McClane is the only local owner who gives Little Dickie Justice any face time. With the Astros possibly up for sale, Justice needs to make noise and get noticed some how.

I refuse to click on anything that Dickie writes. I am not going to feed the troll or boost the number of readers that open his crap. If his readership numbers decrease maybe they will eliminate his crappy column.

That was a stupid article. Of course the Cowboys are bigger than the Texans in terms of popularity. Heck they are bigger than any team in the NFL even if they dont make the playoffs. The Cowboys are the Lakers of the NFL. They are a franchise rich with tradition. The Texans will never be America's Team but I can care less about that. I want to win, period.

Sorry to buzz in here so late but whenever Dick Justice writes something stupid - no, sorry, whenever he writes something so profoundly stupid that it prompts me to write (have to manage the threshold here...) I simply write him directly with a reprimand and remind him that I refuse to participate in the circus of comments on his "blog." I remind him that if no one responds then his management will conclude that no one cares and then he will be out of a job.

Hey, it worked for that halfwit (nowit) Ortiz; maybe if we show some discipline it will work for this clownish, baldish shit-stirrer, too. I mean, really, another Texans should have drafted Young column? Seriously?!?! Haven't those idiots at the Chronicle hired a sports editor yet? What a total embarrassment that paper is. I LOVE newspapers and the publishing industry in general but I can't wait for the Chronicle to choke it Detroit or Seattle stylie. Suck it, Hearst.
