Contrats to Cushing on another huge award, though I don't think quite the
achievment being named a Pro-Bowler as a rookie was ?
Once again as one of many who had reservations about this pick when it was
made, I gotta say how wrong I was and how wise the Texans were in this pick.

Awesome! Good thing they didn't give it to Byrd.

Add in a top FS and a quality DT and this defense should amoung the best in the league.

I was wrong about this draft pick. Glad the Texans did not listen to me.

Congrats to Cush, he earned the title.

It's not everyday a rookie can change the mindset of an entire defense. If anyone hasn't seen it, the Mic'd up video with Cush is well worth it. "Awrruugh, this is a huddle full of rabies, I got some foam coming out my mouth!"

I figured he'd be good this year and maybe great down the road with a season or two under my belt. Glad I was wrong.

I supported the pick from the start, however, wow, this guy is a dominator, way better than I expected as well.

Isn't there something refreshing about a football player who has NUTS on the field for a change?

And from Steph's blog (http://blogs.chron.com/texanschick/2010/01/vote_brian_cushing_rookie_of_t.html):
check out this writeup from Football Outsiders (http://www.aaronschatz.com/extra-points/2010/cushing-named-defensive-rookie-year):(Ed. Note: To update the defensive stats from earlier in the year (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/extra-points/2009/brian-cushing-rookie-year), Cushing was part of 18.5 percent of Houston defensive plays, second behind Patrick Willis. He led the league with 38 Defeats, while Willis was second with 33 Defeats. 38 Defeats is the most any player has had since Ray Lewis had 39 in 2003.)It's hard to describe how strong that is. Defeats is a measure that goes beyond tackles. It looks at playmaking. "Defeats" is defined: "The total number of plays by a defensive player that prevent the offense from gaining first down yardage on third or fourth down, stop the offense behind the line of scrimmage, or result in a turnover."
