It is nice to see articles like this starting to come out. Of course, this guy must be off his rocker to have Mario ranked in the top 10 and not even have the definite hall of famer VY ranked in the top 50.

wow #6?

i believe in mario and all the things he's going to accomplish but he's not the #6 best player in the league. hell, andre johnson has more impact than mario.

i'm not even saying he won't be #6 after this year, just not right now.

good press is nice though!!

Funny that the #6 best player in the league didn't even make the Pro Bowl in his breakout year. Yeah, I love Mario, but this list is nuts to have him that high. At least Andre is on the list too.

honestly, demeco has more right to being #6 than mario and he didn't even make the list.

so it started out with one extreme. how bad mario was, how bad the texans were for picking him blablabla....

now it's this extreme....how long until it all just evens out?

Double digit sacks in the second half of a season will tend to give people the impression he is about to have an amazing year. I fully expect mario to have an impressive season and he will be in the Pro Bowl this season.

apparently osi has an opinion. since it's on the table let's discuss why osi umenyiora should keep his mouth free of any extraneous noises.

a) because he doesn't even belong on the list, not at 6, not at 42 (which he was), not at all
b) he's only had one good season also. i guess we will allow his 13 sacks to count this year even though i'm pretty sure andy reid should've done something about his boy after the 3rd sack...or 4th....or 5th....hell, that night any one of us would've ended up with at least two.
c)his name is hard to spell and for that i hate him a million times
d)played across from someone who could also rush the passer...what were is his name was again? MICHAEL FECKING STRAHAN!!!!!!!! 5th on the all-time list with 141.5?!?! yea, you had some help homeboy.
e)mario williams is at every point in the game a better defensive end than osi umenyiora
f)osi plays in a qb-pressure oriented defense, mario does not.

I think maybe Osi has a big head from wining the superbowl and got his panties all wadded up. Lets see how he does this year with no Strahan on the other side.

Osi played on a line with much better talent than MW did last year. I dont know how Osi stacked up against the run but MW is very good against the run. MW still out performed him. Who is the better player now!?

#6 could be a stretch. He was much better at the end of the year and more consistent. If he plays all year like he did the last 6 games or so it could get very very scary. If he plays mostly like last year he will still be one of the top DE's in the league.

Demeco did get honorable mention at the end of the article, although I think that he should have been in there.

that guy is an idiot, even if he disagreed with it that is the wrong way to go about it. it was definitely a stretch to put mario there . . .unless, of course, mario has another double digit sack total and makes the pro bowl. mario should put that up on his locker as motivation

It's just a stupid list. I can't imagine getting this upset about what some sportswriter said. If Mario had dissed him I could see it, but this is just a slow period fluff piece. Besides, how can anyone take a guy who ask for this seriously (http://withleather.uproxx.com/post.phtml?pk=4790)?

LOL at papabear's link!! eww!! osi likes the gross-y!!!

it's just stupid to see a clearly inferior talent complaining about a clearly superior talent getting more press. or better, i should say.

Osi has been complaining about a lot lately. He was on Mike & Mike yesterday bitching about the ESPY Male Athlete of the Year nominees. He thought nominating Tiger (or any golfer) and Tom Brady was ridiculous because neither were truly athletes and he could run circles around both from an athletic standpoint.

Hopefully, he's just having some fun with his newfound Super Bowl fame and is just saying things to get a rise out of people.

hadn't heard that. if he is serious he is an idiot, of course he may be an idiot even if he isn't serious

.

right, so he's a better defensive end than tiger woods?

sweet, let's go set a golfball 40 feet from the hole where tiger made that awesome shot from with all those thousands of people watching (millions at home?) and see how many times it takes him to make it. or get within 3 feet of the hole. with a broke-ass knee. or let's take him out of football and see how popular football remains while people are anxiously waiting for tiger to come back later this year so that watching golf won't suck donkey.

maybe he should've been the most popular qb if he wanted all the attention that the most popular qb gets? i mean, if it's just that easy for him.......

Poor Osi is not getting his due (according to him), but Mario IS the Better DE, IMO.

Let us not forget that Osi and Amobi are Buds. They went back to Nigeria together. Maybe Amobi is helping stoke the fire with Osi to continue motivating Mario.
