Discuss the game action in here.
One game doesn't make a season, but it seems to me we'll know a lot about what kind of team the Texans are in 2009 based on how they handle just this one game.
And no excuses about the weather. Sure, upper 40s may be cool, but this is football. No precipitation, winds under 10 mph.... sounds like a nice day actually.

Inactives: Fred Bennett, Frank Okam, Nick Ferguson, Anthony Hill.
Pivotal game. Just a golden opportunity for the team to "cross the bridge" and stay there....
Seems like every week, but I see turnovers again as being critical. Texans must not cough it up to the opportunistic Bills.....

The good news is that Kyle Williams, Donte Whitner, and Shawn Nelson are out for them.
Inactives: Fred Bennett, Frank Okam, Nick Ferguson, Anthony Hill.
Bennet must have really gotten into the dog house to be inactive again. I though he was fairly promising as a rook, but he sure doesn't seem to fit what Gibbs Jr is trying to do.

All I ask is that we don't forget that TO is still on this team. I don't care what alot of TO haters have to say about him, he is still a very dangerous threat. I am not concerned about Lee Evans' speed as much as I am about TO's size. We need Mario to take up residence in the backfield today.

We're a better man-to-man team... We just don't do as well in zone....

Two things are constant week in and week out. One, Slaton is an unrepentant fumbler. Two, Marciano's special teams make Raiders-like mistakes.

If we were playing anyone else we would be losing 21-0 right now. This is definitely a terrible way to make your case for a playoff push.
However, with all the misfortune we have time to turn it around.

"Two of the better special team coaches in the league here." Next to the poor play of the ST units game after game this is what infuriates me about Marciano, everyone is constantly on his schlong. And based on what, his unit's giving up a 70 yard return and his unit's negating two good returns with penalties? Etc.?
The sooner that guy is gone the happier I'll be.

I can live with being down by 4 after a terrible half of football. As someone else said, if the Texans were playing a decent team they'd be down by four touchdowns at this point.
But given the team's second half performances this year I can't say I'm overflowing with optimism at the moment.

So, how many bullets do the Texans have with which to shoot themselves in the foot? If they can stop killing themselves, they might just win this.
I think they can pound it... Moats looks good.. C Brown looks slow.. Slaton should get another chance.....

PLEASE tell me that was not a designed QB draw. Please tell me.

Ryan Fitzpatrick SUCKS.
We need some of them 6 pt'ers.....

Dump to Moats good for 5.
C Brown for 7. Ball at the Bills 40.

Moats carries it to the Bills 24. 1st down. About 1 minute left in the 3rd quarter.
Moats for 4 more.
End of 3rd quarter.
Is it just me, or does Moats hit the holes a whole hell of alot faster than Slaton?
IMO, Slaton is a playmaker with the ball in space (and when we doesn't fumble it), but Moats is slicing his way in there with every run.
My guess, we are going to see alot of him going forward if Slaton can't get his $hit together.
On 2nd and 6, Schaub hits KW for 10. 1st down at the Bills 11.
Moats runs it in from the 11!
Texans to go for 2...

Pass to AJ good for 15 and a 1st down. Ball at the Bills 22.
Moats for 4.
Moats for 21! Ball at the Bills 1 yard line. 1st down.

OMG! Now the slow white boy reverse works. Bills have given up.
It was an end-around rather than a reverse, but yeah, before the play I was saying that the Texans could run any play in the playbook. And that's what they did, more or less. It was a well executed play with the fake dive to Moats. And Walter's not Edwin Moses or anything but he is plenty fast.
The Bills are terrible but the Texans are delivering a very solid half of football.

Slaton's fumbling is in his head.
He's got the YIPS. I'm hoping he doesn't go Chuck Knoblauch on us.
Sort of surprised Kubiak didn't put him back on the field in the 4th qtr, once we had things in control. Could we possibly have Moats as the "feature" guy and Slaton be the 3rd down "change of pace" back? We have to get his head on straight.
Not to mention, I've got Slaton on my fantasy football team today and Beanie Wells sitting on the bench
Moats looked really dependable today and with this passing attack, dependable is all we needed.
I think they can pound it... Moats looks good.. C Brown looks slow.. Slaton should get another chance.....
He will. He means too much to this team as a pass catching threat, if nothing else. He just has to get his fumbling problem under control, else every defense will just rip the ball every time he carries.

No Slaton. NP.
No OD. NP.
Conclusion - we don't have to pay OD or draft high for a running back, they're
just plug-ins in this offense. On the other hand Schaub & AJ - they are mandatory pieces as is an effective OLine which looked pretty good today.
Good job in the second half by that offensive unit and the D also played well,
though the Bills offense was hardly that much of a challenge.
Great win for the Texans !

Thank you for finally benching Slaton, he's the main reason we're 30th in rushing. I've been asking for this for weeks...
He just doesn't hit the hole like Moats does. There is no reason, IMO, to take Moats out of the starting role, unless he gets hurt or starts to get fumble prone.
Moats got an opportunity today and made the most of it, great job!!
How do you take him out with a performance like that??

I agree that you can't just sit Moats after a game like that. I hope they use Slaton more in third-down situations and use Moats more on first and second downs. I really loved how he gashed the Bills and also fought for extra yards. However, it should be noted that the Bills were losing defenders to injury all afternoon.

I agree Moats really made the best of his opportunity, I think he showed he deserves to start. Player of the game, for Texans , maybe for the entire NFL today. I'm sure they will have some plays designed for SS as well, he's a playmaker we can use in the offense. Moats does hit the line hard and keep driving and knows how to hold onto the ball. Excellent.
Notice how Moats ran between Brown and Studdard all day. All 3 TD's too, I believe. Good to see the Oline finally start to do their thing in the run game.
