View Full Version : Barwin Signed
My Fox is reporting that Barwin is signed, and on the field. No numbers given, just that it was a 4 yr deal.

Report from chron:
Defensive end Connor Barwin, the Texans' second-round draft choice from the University of Cincinnati, signed a four-year contract Friday in time to be on the practice field for the start of training camp.
Barwin's signing leaves outside linebacker Brian Cushing, the No. 1 pick, as the Texans' only unsigned draft choice.
Cushing, who is represented by CAA, isn't expected to sign until the players drafted right in front of him have signed.

Good to hear...Cush should be in camp soon enough to no not miss too much.
PFT now reporting:
UPDATE: PFT's Aaron Wilson is reporting that Barwin received a four-year deal with a maximum total value of $4.01 million, according to a league source. That includes total guaranteed money of $2.461 million. The total value increase is 8.6% higher than last year's pick at his slot.
Great.........one to go. Cushing's agent has other clients selected before Cushing to get signed, so it may take a few days.

I look forward to watching Barwin play more than any other rookie this year.

It was reported that Brian Orakpo of Texas signed today with the Redskins. IIRC, Orakpo was #13 so you'd think the parameters for Cushing at #15 are close to being set.

fwiw, the chron reported the guaranteed money at $2.12 million, but the total contract value at the same $4.01 million. Adding min base salaries of $1.75 million over the four years, neither one gets to $4.01 million, so something is afoot here somewhere to throw off the cap estimate by $50k/yr... I'm going to guess Barwin might have like a $50k/yr workout bonus guaranteed in future years until I get better info.
