The full preseason schedule should come out in another week or so, but a couple items of note from the chron (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6335394.html):
the Cowboys won’t be coming to Houston this year because of scheduling conflicts involving their new stadium in Arlington. ...

“We’re disappointed, but we certainly understand the situation,” Texans owner Bob McNair said. “I enjoy playing the Cowboys, and I think they enjoy playing us. I’m sure we’ll resume the series in the future.” ...

The Texans are hosting the New Orleans Saints and visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the league has to schedule the team another home and road game.

I think they are scared :D Jerrah's worried that his legions and legions of bandwagon fans might start jumping ship.

I'm still trying to figure out how we can have Tampa Bay on our pre-season schedule every year but NOT the Cowboys. I think I get it though. The networks and NFL want to showcase the Cowboys every week, even in pre-season, so regional rivalries take a back seat to those matchups the NFL sees as more profitable. The Cowboys are just too big for Texas.

BTW, has Jerrah found a corporate sponsor for his new palace yet? I still hope it is McDonald's because of the arches that hold up the retractable roof. Paint the arches yellow and - voila! - instant marketing tie-in.

As a parent who has spent some time in the Ronald McDonald House while my daughter was in the hospital, I can see a tasteless joke coming here.

I hope the Cowboys don't get a McD's sponsorship. Maybe AIG would hook them up with naming rights. :D

Actually this is the first year that we havent played dallas in the preseason or reg season. Evidently there is an issue with scheduling and the new stadium.

MNF aside, I am stoked about getting games 2 and 3 at home. Should be a lot of fun, at least as far as a fake game goes, of course.

From the official (http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5202):
Houston’s game with Minnesota on Monday, Aug. 31, will be televised nationally on ESPN at 7 p.m. CT. The Texans will host a nationally televised preseason game for the first time in team history. It will be the team's fourth nationally televised preseason game. ...

Aug. 20-23 vs. New Orleans Saints KTRK-TV TBA
Monday, Aug. 31 vs. Minnesota Vikings ESPN 7 p.m. CT

Third game the one the starters play in for a 'half - 3 quarters and that being the MNF game with the Vikings it should hold some national interest not to
mention a pretty keen eye from Texan & Viking fans.

The Texans sound guy should have some helicopter sound effects ready for that one :p. I'm glad that that game is at home, but I kinda hate that it's monday night. Regular season Monday night game...I leave work early and come in late on Tuesday. Pre-season will just be a hassle.

With the roof closed all pre-season for fan comfort the times seem the same, although the roof policy is appropriate. Doubt it will be fun to tailgate on the 140 degree pavement. Pretty cool that we are seen as a place to have a Monday night game, vs just being another footnote on the crawler.

It will be fun to be the only NFL game on TV. I think that should get the players as jacked as possible for a pre-season game.

I dunno if this means it's ESPNs idea of a substitute for a regular season MNF game, or if history indicates we're likely to also have a regular season MNF
game after being selected for preseason, or if it means nothing at all one way or the other ?
