Raji's projected as a first rounder as it stands.

I actually think there's a better chance that Orakpo falls to the second than Raji. Orakpo's relatively weak against the run and seems to be maxed out in potential - a get-what-you-see type of guy. That's the kind of player that you can steal in the second (see: DeMeco Ryans)

Texas DE Brian Orakpo isn't really falling in scouts eyes, but after watching film, they are all feeling pretty confident about their grades on him which are generally second-round grades. I don't think its a weak draft, I just think it's a weak draft in potential top tier prospects. I think there are an abundance of talented players in this years draft, just not many franchise types, which bodes well for late first round teams. If there is someone one of the late teams covet, there should be more willing teams to trade down IMO.

I would not call it weak, very weak of top line prospects, almost no glamor guys. But a lot of good blue collar NFL types available in the 2nd 3rd 4th round. Some solid players will come from this draft, unlike the draft in 2002. (I am not blasting our draft, go look at the entire draft and look how many even lasted 5 years.

Chester Pitts is going to be remembered as one of the elite guys from that draft. A player that never made a Pro Bowl.

Yea that's what I really was trying to say - no big-talent at the top end of the Draft. Some real good OT prospects, but otherwise what is really there ?
QBs look iffy, no real stud defensive players, skill positions marginal. Its a good year to have a mid-teen (or higher) pick instead of top 5 or even top 10. Re Pitts, can you just imagine if he'd have been drafted by somebody like the Steelers or Pats instead of us ? Given his incredible durability and steadiness along with versatility and descent level of talent, he easily could have been a perennial pro-bowler.

Funny you mentioned the '02 draft because I had just looked back at it about 2 or 3 months ago. What a horrendous draft. Just pure crappy luck that the year the Texans enter the league (and are given multiple extra draft picks) the draft is this terrible.

Also, I'm still amazed at the Charles Hill pick.

YES!........But don't they say the same thing almost every year? So don't fall in love with the first round to the point that you want to trade up, as some nerd does on this board does almost every year. Do what we have been doing. If things stay the same and Maclin is the BPA at #15, and we really don't need WR at this point, maybe we should trade down. I might add though, that Flacco has turned out to be a damned good QB! I like what we did, gaining an extra 3rd round pick that turned out to be Slaton, and still garnered us a good OLT.

No. I do think if the top end of this draft was nearly as strong as the 2006 draft he would though.
