My friend states the following:

After getting caught up on the news and the stuff behind the scenes, I don't think they have a case but the Patriots are going to try to drag this out as long as they can.

They are angling for compensation and this is why they played this card. Caserio wants out and the Patriots know he wants out.

The Texans are going to go through the process but if they get the feeling things aren't going to go their way, they could offer something to NE in order for them to drop the charge.

Another thing to note...my friend survived the Gaine hiring and ended up being a good friend with him...he's a little nervous now that he may be looking for a job.

I wish him luck on his keeping his job.

Another sign things are a mess. Every team tampers but to do it in such a dumb way that you get publicly accused and have to delay a hire is bad.

So I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that bikerack's friend is white.

I will say wait until the details come out on this. Racism wasn’t involved unless you count an employee ignoring repeated instructions as racism.

Haven't heard from my friend but the Texans are no longer pursuing Caserio. On to plan B.

One more on the Texans: The team is vehemently denying the discrimination charges of ex-security coordinator Jeff Pope. Sources say Pope was fired for falsifying payroll documents, seeking overtime pay for hours he didn’t work. And those inside the organization have defended ex-GM Brian Gaine on this one, saying he doesn’t deserve this on his way out the door.

The Texans have clearly botched this from the get-go, but the idea that it was in response to a discrimination claim makes no sense.

If the Texans were worried about this, they would have just settled with the guy. The guy's attorney even says they came to the Texans with a severance proposal which the Texans rejected. I can't imagine his severance proposal was more expensive than the remaining 3 years on Gaine's contract. And firing Gaine only gave them ammo to go public. If they truly believed there was something there, immediately firing Gaine is the last thing you would do.

Updates from friend:

This isn't over.

Like I said before and I stand by what I said Caserio wants out of NE and has been the case for the last couple of months.

People act like this just came about during the Patriots super bowl party.

Those saying this was a ploy to give the GM position to OB should stop as it's asinine.

Houston did know about the contract language. However, it was so far-fetched and Caserio wants out of NE so bad, the Texans and Caserio didn't think NE would put their foot down and prevent him from leaving.

Just the Patriots doing Patriots things.

Good info again, I think worse case Caserio is the GM come next May.

The lack of info coming from the Texans leads people to the asinine opinions being spewed. I know the team will tell it strategies to the public, but that will not stop us from wanting that info.

Cal McNair gains nothing from a press conference or exclusive interview. I don't expect him to have public talk until the team wins the Super Bowl or hire Caserio.

In the mean time any news on the apparent new power of Jack Easterby?

And thank you for the updates
