Now we just wait a few hours again to see what commercial is played once the Texans are on the clock.

I'm so used to Facebook, when I see a funny one liner like this, I want to hit the "like" button. :)

So Roy, who is most likely on your board for your two teams today rounds 2&3?

So Roy, who is most likely on your board for your two teams today rounds 2&3?
Forest Lamp, Cam Robinson, Kevin King, Obi Melifonwu, Raekwon McMillan, Davis Webb, Dan Feeney, Jordan Willis, Chris Wormley, Zach Cunningham, Chidobe Awuzie, Derek Rivers, Tyus Bowser, Taylor Moton, Bucky Hodges, Anthony Walker Jr, Cordrea Tankersley, Budda Baker, Sydny Jones, Fabian Moreau, and Zay Jones are on my radar.
Roy P

Ted Thompson has a knack for drafting My Guys. I ranked Forrest Lamp from Western Kentucky as my 4th ranked player, so I would not be surprised to see him in Green Bay.
Roy P
04-28-2017, 06:17 PM
Kevin King was my 13th ranked player and the highest Defensive player on my board. Ted Thompson is my twin.

Don't the Cardinals also have Honey Badger? Budda Baker is a curious pick. They traded up to get him.
Trades are flying furiously.
Would anyone here object if we dealt our second for a first next year? Even a low first?

Just for discussion , I'd prefer Texans use their picks today, to help this year rather than shift to next year.

My top OL comes off the board to protect Phillip Rivers (who I despise). Hoped he would go to a team that I like. Now, my top guys are Obi Melifonwu, Davis Webb, Dan Feeney, Chris Wormley, Jordan Willis, Zach Cunningham, Chidobe Awuzie, Derek Rivers, Tyus Bowser, Taylor Moton, Ahkello Witherspoon, Bucky Hodges, Anthony Walker Jr, Cordrea Tankersley, Sydney Jones, Fabian Moreau, Alvin Kamara, and Dion Dawkins.
Roy P
04-28-2017, 07:20 PM
My Colts are coming up. I wish that I could select Obi Melifonwu instead of Hooker, but since we already have him, I would look at Raekwon McMillan, Dan Feeney, Jordan Willis, Chris Wormley, Chidobe Awuzie, Derek Rivers, Tyus Bowser, Taylor Moton, or Ahkello Witherspoon at pick #46.

Dang it!! I was hoping Adam Shaheen would be there for us, I really like this kid, reminds me a lot of Gronk.
Roy P
04-28-2017, 07:36 PM
So, if I were Chris Ballard, My Colts would have Forrest Lamp and Obi Melifonwu. If I had to take Hooker, I would have 2 Ohio State Buckeyes, Hooker and McMillan.

@albertbreer on twitter is a couple picks ahead of tv
Blitzwood
04-28-2017, 07:45 PM
I'm guessing Obi Melifonwu will be our pick if he's still there, I know the Texans where pretty high on him, Foreman, the RB out of Texas is my darkhorse. I'd be ecstatic with either one.
Warren
04-28-2017, 07:51 PM
OT Dion Dawkins from Temple could be a possibility.

04-28-2017, 07:51 PM
I would look at Raekwon McMillan, Dan Feeney, Jordan Willis, Chris Wormley, Chidobe Awuzie, Derek Rivers, Taylor Moton, or Ahkello Witherspoon at pick #46.
The Texans are coming up and my draft board is similar to what I would like for My Colts. The cover ILB, the RG, the OLB, the DE, the RT, and the CB.

04-28-2017, 08:06 PM
Raiders get Obi Melifonwu. Davis Webb is still available. Wow. The Texans select Zach Cunningham, Brian Cushing Cushing is at the end.

04-28-2017, 08:07 PM
Obi taken 1 pick before ours. Cunningham is our pick.
Roy P
04-28-2017, 08:12 PM
I have Davis Webb as my best available prospect. The Texans could have had him over Cunningham. The rest of My Guys are Dan Feeney, Jordan Willis, Chris Wormley, Chidobe Awuzie, Derek Rivers, Taylor Moton, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Bucky Hodges.

Obi taken 1 pick before ours. Cunningham is our pick.
But Cunningham is also very highly regarded but still surprising given our needs in the OLine. When do we take a tackle, surely in third ?

Actually we are desperate at RT - the guy who was playing three last year blew out both of his knees trying to block Von Miller, so yea man we are pretty desperate right now at RT.
Oh and that center, he's comging aback from IR and has played a down in a regular season NFL so far.

@ #89 the Texans select. ......Foreman to play RB.
HPF Bob
04-28-2017, 10:00 PM
NFL Network had a pre-draft story on Foreman who found out his girlfriend had given birth to a premature baby in September who was a 50/50 chance of survival and it was kept out of the media. The day he rushed for over 300 yards against Texas Tech, he learned his son D'onta Jr. died during the game. Very touching story.
Hmmm...as a longhorn I should be pleased with this pick, but I just don't feel it. Time will tell but despite all the yards he just always felt slow.
And I'm stunned we continue to ignore woeful OL.

I don't like big RBs. Much of their college success cannot be replicated because they are no longer bigger than most of the defense. NFL defenders are bad men. It's also why I wouldn't have gone near Fournette in the 1st. Why draft a guy who is useless if he gets hit at or near the LOS? I guess we needed a redzone compliment to Miller.
HPF Bob
04-28-2017, 10:07 PM
Foreman is from Texas City High School. He's a straight-ahead beast with a little wiggle who ran for over 2000 yards. I expect he'll be in the goalline packages in the beginning. As long as he doesn't make that left turn laterally like so many backs do behind Duane Brown, he'll be okay. He's not a scat back and he's not outrunning anyone to the edge but he is tough to stop when he gets his momentum going. Think a slimmer Christian Okoye.
Nconroe
04-28-2017, 10:10 PM
PHere is one review, if he gives us 3rd down and end zone, we needed that.

Now have 4 more picks and free agency to help OL.
Doak Walker Award winner (Foreman) to go along with the Davey O'Brien Award winner (Watson).

OK enough, is enough. This is like last year when round after round they passed on tackles and the Texans seemed to be oblivious to their pressing need at OT. Sure they drafted a center, but that's not the same thing as an offensive lineman who can play on the edge and face the pass-rushers.
But now they are using 3rd round picks on a RB and for what ? Big backs are a available in the late rounds or as undrafted rookie free agents.
I hope Smith has got his eye on some OTs who he's sure will be cut by other teams who he can sign as free agents ?
Roy P
04-28-2017, 10:28 PM
I had this discussion with a Cowboys fan this week wanting Foreman because he was a UT fan. I don't understand why he wanted another RB when he already has Elliot. Unfortunately there are no OTs available at this point. Which is why I moved up the OL in this draft considering supply and demand. The only OL I have left on my board is Danny Isidora. Maybe we can get Zach Banner as an UDFA. But once Taylor Moton came off the board, it was a moot point. You had to get a pick in the top 64 to get a starter.

I think you can say the same thing about tackles. You can find fatboys in the later rounds.....
Rick Smith was just on the radio and asked this very question. He replied (paraphrasing) that they have been taking them as they come. Said they were going BPA and value and perhaps they would address OL tomorrow....

No idea but rehabbing both knees at the same time sounds brutal.
It sounds impossible. Which is why I'd assumed that the team thinks he'll never play again and why I'm a little puzzled that they haven't done anything to address the need to this point. Obviously this is a historically bad draft for OL and the FA OL were obscenely expensive. But the need is plain.

I don't have a big problem with Foreman since it's proven now that Blue is just a guy and they can't keep running Miller at the workload they put on him through last year. With that being said, I would have taken Perine over Foreman if the goal was to get a bruiser RB. Foreman has better 40 speed, but go look at their highlights and tell me who's better as far as breaking tackles and just powering through defenders. But hey, what do I know???

I'm ok with a mostly draft who's best available on your board, which appears is what Texans doing since no top OL remain when they draft.
Here are early draft grades from SI.com
Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson: Three quarterbacks in the top 12, three pricey trades up for the teams that took them. For the Texans to get from No. 25 to here, the cost was that 25th pick plus a 2018 first-rounder. Remember, the Browns already own Houston’s 2018 second-rounder, as part of the Brock Osweiler salary dump. But the Texans could not carry a playoff-ready roster into next season with Tom Savage and Brandon Weeden manning the QB depth chart. Watson threw too many interceptions in college and he’ll need time to transition into Bill O’Brien’s offense, but he is the most talented quarterback there by a wide margin. This has to work, because the Texans mortgaged their ‘18 draft to solve a mess of their own creation. GRADE: A-
Round 2, Pick 25 (No. 57)
Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt: Finally. Cunningham should not have made it this far, plain and simple. The knock on him has been his ability to wrap, which will have to be more consistent at the next level for him to remain a 100-tackle defender. The Texans already have Brian Cushing and Bernardick McKinney inside, where Cunningham will have to play in their 3-4. Does this pick signal an impending end of the line for Cushing’s Texans career? Grade: A
Round 3, Pick 25 (No. 89)
D'Onta Foreman, RB, Texas: Bill O’Brien has said he wants to lighten Lamar Miller’s workload some this season, and Foreman absolutely will help do that. He’s a big back who runs like a small back—the cutting ability and speed could help him churn out yards in that Houston scheme. Grade: B+

I'm guessing Obi Melifonwu will be our pick if he's still there, I know the Texans where pretty high on him, Foreman, the RB out of Texas is my darkhorse. I'd be ecstatic with either one.
I was hoping we'd take Foreman in the 2nd, getting him in the 3rd was awesone. Hes's a load, can be an every down back that can handle any load. Too much Miller and Blue getting pushed back, Foreman is a definite improvement. Very nice draft so far, Cunningham in the 2nd was a steal, now Foreman in the 3rd :D

I can't complain so far about acquiring Watson, Cunningham or Foreman although I, like many, still wonder where help for the OL is coming from. Do you suppose the Texans are still counting on David Quessenberry to play tackle? He's still on the roster.
BTW, Foreman represents the first Texas Longhorn drafted by the Texans of any significance. There was the one guard Studdard but he was a free agent and a close friend of Kyle Shanahan. Otherwise, they've mostly shunned Longhorn players whether Austin was coming off good years or bad ones.

And there's more to the list. Don't think you can go too far wrong with any big conference OL....
There's a lot of names there and I've read some positive stuff about Will Holden, the OT out of Vandy. He's certainly nothing special but he's probably servicible as he's a multi year starter at Vandy so he's got big league experience in the SEC. At Vandy he' played LT but most think he can switch and is more suited for RT. No he's not that good but he is experienced.
Been reading quite a bit in the Denver Post because the Broncos need a tackle as we do and those fans are really panning Elway for taking Bolles with the #20 overall because they feel the way I do which is Bolles has got bust written all over him. They say maybe in the second or third but he's just not a first round talent.
They think Elway should have gone BPA with the first round pick and settled for the dregs in this Draft when it comes to finding OT help or waited till later rounds.

Giants just took Davis Webb
They got him in the third-round, what a value !
Webb looked like more like an O'Briend kinda QB than Watson does, or MaHomes IMO. Apparently there's no single O'Brien kinda QB.
It's certainly gonna be interesting to follow Webbs career and all the other QBs in this Draft besides the one the Texans selected.

The more I watch Cunningham the more I like him and the more the missed tackle 'issue' seems overblown. I don't know how you can lead the world with seven thosand SEC tackles and still suck at tackling. And it turns out he doesn't. He'll need to get a little stronger but I expect that he and McKinney will pair up to be quite a duo for quite a while.

Roderick Johnson and Julie'N Davenport are two OTs I had read good things about and, face it, on the third day, you are taking risks. I'm glad they recognized the need for a RB who could share the load with Lamar Miller. I thought Miller was overworked and was too dinged up by the end of the year. I like Hunt as a change-of-pace back but Foreman can help shorten games at the end.
