I'm trying to keep the knee-jerk reaction down, but some parts of that game were just funny. I mean when things are being pointed out by my aunt, who openly admits she doesn't understand football just likes to watch and cheer, then it's time for changes.

Defense:
Does anyone know if we have a Defensive philosophy? Seen it? Why do our CB's give 15 yards of cushion and since when has that ever been a good idea? Does Weaver understand football? Being locked up with the O'lineman is bad, yet that's all he's capable of...way too much money is invested in Patty-cakes. It may be crazy for a minute, but richard smith needs to get the axe and get out. Get in a guy who can take what little we have on defense and use it to at least get in somebody's way.

Offense:
How many dump-off passes can possibly be thrown before anyone was going to realize that lateral movement isn't the answer to a pass rush? I'd much rather watch schaub hurl 6 int's trying to make a play than a hook shot to ahman for no gain. And why is David Anderson playing? He earned a spot...but that spot wasn't the 3rd WR on the depth chart. Anyone remember the name of that guy who plays TE for us? Schaub can't remember either...

What I'd like to know is how much of the play-calling was Shanny Jr. and how much was Kubiak or someone else. After Leach whiffed and got Schaub killed, the offense seemed to be playing without much courage until it was too late.

I thought I was watching the 2002 Texans most of the day.

Ha! are those really your Aunt's thoughts?

My grandma had a couple thoughts like
" I thought we were supposed to tackle them, not wave at em?"
and
" I thought our quarterback was supposed to throw the ball to our guy?"

I guess she'll never really understand. I told her it was much more complicated than that. You have a scheme and a playbook and you have to setup exploiting the other teams weakness with your strengths.

She then asked "Who wrote the playbook"?

Ah, better forget it and prepare for next week.

ha, no those were my toned-down knee jerks...

she did point out a few of them though, "why are they going sideways?" type questions...

How the heck do we hold our heads up after such a rotten ass kicking?

Didn't want to start a new thread for this but thought it was worth a mention:

QB Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) has a sore shoulder, but plans to play Sunday night in Cleveland. The injury happened when he hit the turf on a sack by Houston's Mario Williams. That shoulder will limit how much Roethlisberger practices on Wednesday.
