The 2-5 Texans host the 1-5 Tennessee Titans this Sunday in an early game at NRG stadium. The Titans won their first game of the year against the Bucs and have since lost 5 straight most recently losing 10-7 at home to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday. Rookie QB Marcus Mariota's status for the game is still unknown at this point in time.

The Texans are coming off a 44-26 drubbing at the hands of the Miami Dolphins in a road game. At present, Kareem Jackson, Brandon Brooks and JJ Watt are listed as questionable.

Should be entertaining to see which team is worse. Might be first pick in the draft predictor.

I'm of the belief that J. Strong should start for the rest of the season. At the very least we can develop at least our future number 2 receiver. You bring in Nate and Cecil if you think they can help you get to the playoffs. But now we need to prepare for an overhaul. See if Strong has the potential to be the future.

Guy calls me this morning.

- Seņor Firs! he shouts.

- Yes, I answer meekly, sleepily.

- Is there any chance you can you come in tomorrow morning rather than Monday like we'd talked about?!

The AC in my car crapped out. I knew it before I went in there for the evaluation. The air, while cool, had begun to blow ever softer. It had happened over the course of a year or so. And then recently I took a trip to the US and rented a car with ice-cold, gale-force AC and the stark contrast led to the sad conviction that my own AC was just not right. Especially because once I returned to my ride the air, in a new twist, wasn't even cold.

Which is what led me down the unpaved road behind the local transport terminal in the provincial capital twenty minutes down the road from where I live. There was nothing more than a Private Property sign. The dude who recommended the AC repair place told me that long-distance busses get washed there. This is true. He told me that there was a sign indicating a Lava Auto. This is not true. In any event, I made my way down this road and to the fellow who I hope will fix my AC. Tomorrow.

- What time do you want me to be there?

- Nine.

- How long will this take?

- No later than two in the afternoon.

- Dale, pues. See you at nine.

So, serendipitously, I find myself conveniently able to put my money where my mouth is tomorrow. For the second time in the team's outSTANding history I will not see the game in real time. (Possibly, [hopefully?] not at all.) And, for the first time, me importa una verga, cha.

I doubt you miss much, Chuckles. This is why I have a DVR. My church lets out around 12:15. It's 12:30 before I step foot in my favorite sports bar and probably 12:45 or 1 if I want to drive all the way home. There's radio if I want to monitor the progress.

But, priorities, man. Cold A/C trumps watching 2-5 football team. I get it.

That was mindblowingly stupid. You have 42 seconds left. You have the lead. You're deep in your own territory. You just fired your backup QB....

so let's drop back for a pass!

Anyone who bitched about Kubiak's bad play calls (and he had some whoppers), this was just as moronic. WHY risk injury to your QB on a no-chance-in-hell pass attempt when you should just sit on the ball for two plays and take a lead in the locker room?

Really hard to root for such monumental stupidity.

If only we could play the Titans and Hags every week. We do get 2 more with them.

Good to see the D as active as they were, even with the condition of the Titans OL. Mercilous had a great game, and seems to be producing when called upon.

Interesting that Rahim Moore was a healthy scratch. Good to see some accountability for shitty play.

Yep, they've proved they can still win against the Jags, Titans and Bucs of the league (though, what a shocker with the Bucs knocking off the Falcons today).

Yes, Mercilus had a good game but where has he been for the last 7 games? Nonetheless, it was good to see all those linebackers (Cushing/Bullough/Simon/Mercilus) at the top of the tackle stats....

I thought Rahim Moore was a pretty good signing back in the Spring, but he has been a disaster. When you can get a glimpse of him in the picture, he's usually trying to avoid getting his uniform dirty.... Demps, "penalty machine" Pleasant and Hal held down the fort pretty well though Mettenberger didn't go deep much......

Mercilous had 2 sacks against Jacksonville 2 weeks ago. Can you tell me what those games had in common other than bad AFC QBs? No Jadaveon Clowney. Mercilous has been far better than Clowney but isn't playing. When Mercilous has gotten snaps he's performed.

All of Mercilous' sacks came after Clowney got hurt. That means when Clowney is hurt Mercilous has 5.5 sacks in about 7 quarters.

What's worse is we cannot figure out how to get both in the game. The NYG super bowl teams from a few years back played 4 DEs at once. If we are trying to force Clowney on the field regardless of results and performance, we shouldn't be doing it at Mercilous' expense.

Keith
11-01-2015, 11:17 PM
Crennel can't seem to figure out how to use his DL personnel.

Mercilus is great as a weakside pass rusher. He's made plays when the defense has been in passing down situations. Clowney has typically been better in run support, though not today after his back injury.

Interesting how the defense sorta 'woke up' in the middle of the first half. They lacked emotion during the Titans' first FG drive.

The offensive playcalling was terrible at times. The TE screen to CJ? Yikes. Dropping back to a sack when you just need to run the ball before the half? Wha?

Hopkins is having a terrific season, but he relies on his hands too much. He gives up his route to instead jump for balls, and his blocking is uninspired. But, oh, those hands. His TD was a beaut.

And defensively, suspect to the screen again. Cushing had a somewhat better game though.
