Joseph is now signed for two more years after this one, so through 2017. The 3 years is a total of $22 million, $11.5 million is guaranteed. Base is $6.5 million in 2016 and 2017... sounds like a deal where the team hopes he plays out the full extension.

With Kareem already signed and a first rounder invested in Kevin Johnson, this secondary should be in good shape for the near future. That is critical when the nemesis is going to be Andrew Luck.

Good signing. I also like some of the young backups in Bouye, Rolle, Morris, etc. Should be a strong group of CB's for quite a while. Here's to hoping the safety positions gets settled this year....

I wonder if Joseph is one of those corners who can move to Safety as he gets older, thicker, and slower. Guys like Woodson extended their career by a half decade with that move.

IMO, JJoe is a little small to be a safety. Woodson was much larger, IIRC.

You are correct. I looked it up and Joseph is only 5' 11" and 188. Woodson is 6' 1" and 210. Either way I am a big JJ fan and I hope he finds a way to stay productive the length of the contract.

Game has changed from the Woodson time to today, things go in cycles. Woodson at CB almost singlehandedly ended the Run N Shoot in the NFL. He watched enough tape to learn the WR reads and would show one thing and then run to the spot where the read said to throw the ball. And he was big enough to run through Drew Hill to get the ball. Woodson was big, smart and fast.

JJo is a different type CB.

I was actually talking about Charles Woodson but obviously Rod did the same thing.

Tells you how old I am. I forget about Charles Woodson, another great DB.
