One more day... the draft comes and goes so fast after such a long wait.

These trade-ups are expensive, but I like this draft class so far. Still have concerns at center and OLB, possibly even DL and TE, so I expect some big uglies here on Day 3.

Bargain bin shopping searching for diamonds in the rough. Not happy about some of the players who are going to be drafted in the 4th round and the Texans won't be able to select. I wonder how many of these guys are taken in the 4th round?

Gonna be a long wait today. Long shot, but maybe they move DSwag for something today. Might as well get a late pick or something for him if he's not in your plans. For how it's gone so far, Smith apparently is trying to get quality over quantity this year. Hope it works.

The Jets select the QB I hoped that the Texans would take. :(

Atlanta takes my scrappy WR prospect Justin Hardy from ECU at #107

Warren

I'd like to seem them take a late flyer on UMass TE Jean Sifrin. He's an athletic but raw receiving TE who could develop into a nice complement to Fiedorowicz. O'Brien got his start in coaching under Mark Whipple, the UMass head coach, so there's a connection there.

I don't know which way they're going to go with the next pick but he sure as shit better be twitchy.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 11:44 AM
I am wondering how Jamison Crowder was drafted before Rashad Greene. Mario Edwards before Grady Jarrett or Michael Bennett. If the Texans want a QB, Brett Hundley is starting to look good. I thought he'd be over-valued and taken in the 2nd round before Bryce Petty. If he's still on the board in the 5th, he would be hard to pass on.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 11:50 AM
I don't know if the Texans want to play McKinney at OLB, but if not, My Guys Anthony Chickillo, Za'Darius Smith, Davis Tull, Kyle Emanuel, and Alani Fua might be nice to have. The Tight Ends I am wanting : Jesse James and Blake Bell are my big targets. Mycole Pruitt and Wes Saxton are twitchy. RBs or another WR are also options.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 11:56 AM
And.....Blake Bell goes to the 49ers. Sad panda.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 12:16 PM
Ozzie Newsome selected Za'Darius Smith and Javorious "Buck" Allen. Good pick here at #125.

Wow....Grady Jarrett, David Cobb, Rashad Greene, and Ben Heeney to open the 5th round. GREAT value picks.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 01:02 PM
MyCole Pruitt to the Vikings....Jesse James is looking very good now. Though, Chickillo and Hundley are intriguing. Tre McBride too.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 01:15 PM
I guess Ted Thompson was thinking that Brett Hundley was just too good to pass up.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 01:18 PM
And the Saints get Davis Tull for Coach Ryan to play OLB.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 01:22 PM
If Jay Ajayi is 'healthy' the Dolphins just got a steal at pick #149.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 01:35 PM
Davis Tull and Kyle Emanual are off the board, making Chickillo prime for picking.

Roy P
05-02-2015, 01:53 PM
Jesse James is no longer an option. Gone to the Steelers. :o

Drummond, Holliman , and D. Smith still available. X. Williams, Hull, or best OLB would be nice.

In hindsight, I think we gave a little much (4 &6) to move up for McKinney when Kendricks and Perryman would still have been there...

Michael Bennet and L. Collins still available as well. I would take a flier on either one at the bottom of the 5th.

KR Keith Mumphery.

REALLY?!? KR/WR Keith Mumphery is the newest Texan. Unbelievable. I'm wondering what's the deal with DL Michael Bennett from The Ohio State and OLB Anthony Chickillo from The U. Punters, Long Snappers, and Kick Returners getting drafted before them.

I wonder if this means they plan on trying McKinney outside.

I think on passing downs, he is either blitzing or coming off the edge. He is 6'4" with 33" arms, so he could be used in that capacity as a speed rusher. He just needs to learn some pass-rush moves.

I guess Ted Thompson was thinking that Brett Hundley was just too good to pass up.

Every year Aaron Rodgers has to miss a game or two and Thompson has to go find that Flynn guy to bail him out for a couple of weeks. Maybe he decided it was time to stop that and get a real QB.

The last round reminds me of one of those cartoons I saw back in the 70s where the coach is talking to the GM and he says "well, we just have two names left on our draftboard: Prancer, a 150-lb defensive tackle, and Lardbutt, a 360-lb kick return specialist."

The last round reminds me of one of those cartoons I saw back in the 70s where the coach is talking to the GM and he says "well, we just have two names left on our draftboard: Prancer, a 150-lb defensive tackle, and Lardbutt, a 360-lb kick return specialist."

More likely in Playboy than the New Yorker I would wager.

And Kenny Hilliard, RB, out of LSU is our final pick.

Now to the UDFA group.

More likely in Playboy than the New Yorker I would wager.

Neither. Some sort of sports magazine. Famed cartoonist Jack Davis was the illustrator and I want to say the cartoon was called SuperFan.

Wikipedia says only this: "Superfan", a 1970s comic strip in Pro Quarterback magazine by Nick Meglin and Jack Davis, later collected in a 1972 paperback published by Signet Books.

Looks like the book used to be on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Superfan-Freaky-Football-Folk-Hero/dp/B000B9V2FM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

If I'm not mistaken, SuperFan appeared and talked the coaches into drafting a mule who could nail 70-yd field goals with his back leg.

Pro Quarterback magazine I believe was the souvenir game program you bought back in the day and the NFL later renamed it simply "Pro" but it had written features to go with game rosters and photos.

ESPN had thumbs up/thumbs down from their beat reporters for each team. Amazingly 29 teams received a thumbs up. Is there anything more useless than a reporter who covers one team. They are PR guys that are afraid of saying anything bad because they don't want to lose access.

I really wish we could get decent coverage of the Texans (Or any Houston team for that matter. The Astros are in the middle of the longest winning streak in Baseball and nobody cares but the Chronicle hacks).
