Harmless little tweet.
Clowney cleared to play after concussion. Okay, so who reported he had a concussion? Did O'Brien keep the secret that well? And now that it's out, how many teams are going to send somebody to ring his bell in the pile just to get him out of games?
10 years ago, a story like this would have meant nothing. Now with all the precautions for head injuries (except safer helmets....grrrr), I wonder if Clowney will become a marked man? At least maybe they won't go after his knees to slow him down. They'll go after his head.

Clowney now possibly out 4-6 weeks for a meniscus injury. Rumored to be scheduled for surgery on Monday.
Ugh.

I had Meniscus and ACL surgery in April. Meniscus is painful and can have more long term issues depending on the tear and how it's returned.

An ACL probably means the end if the season. An MCL is very iffy. The ACLs are needed to hold up the knee while cutting whereas the MCL holds an overall support role to the knee and athletes are able to perform with a damaged one.
Of course, the way you slow down move speed rushers is to take out their knees so I hope this is not the beginning of a trend of knee injuries for Clowney. If he can't be explosive, he won't be near the threat he'd otherwise be.

If you watched the Texans app, and you read between the lines then you would know that he got the concussion in Denver on the 2nd day. He was held out after that as a precaution.
As for the tear, it looked like a fluke, he jumped and landed funny, and he immediately grabbed the back of the knee. He did try to to go back in and play for one play. Then he came off the field and they walked him to the locker room.
I hope this is not the beginning of a trend. But better to happen now then later in the year.

Talk around of some hole in the maligned nrg turf contributing to Clowney's torn meniscus. pff.
Though the turf tray seams didn't seem as bad as they appear in this pic of the field before the 4th preseason game, but maybe I just didn't get quite as good as look as this:

But have we already established a trend here ? This is the third injury and the most serious in just the few months he's been here and the second one that's required surgery. The third injury was the concussion in Denver during practice, and I've now read that's not the first known concussion of his career.
I wanted this guy all along as our pick but I assumed the Texans thoroughly vetted him, so if he's got an injury history they surely discovered that and gave it due diligence. There was also talk of him lacking motivation, being a bit on the lazy side, but those rumors never concerned me.

A meniscus tear can happen very randomly but they really do need to fix the field. I don't know what their options are given that the stadium gets used for all sorts of other nonsense but they need to prioritize the NFL field. It sucks and it always has.
