Using this thread as a January time capsule... what would you today if you were the Texans and held the #1 overall pick?

Use it to draft Teddy?
Use it to draft Clowney?
Use it to draft Manziel/Matthews/someone else?
Trade down the Browns (& draft someone other than Teddy and Clowney)?

Thread poll inspired by this post in the thread where McNair mentioned the team would consider a trade down possibility:
Sorry to go off topic but I'm curious about something. Seems like many here don't want us to take a QB or at least would be fine with it if we traded down and got a RT or something like that. Is this because you don't think any of these guys has the potential to develop into a franchise guy? Or is it that you think that we can win without an above average QB if all the other parts are good enough so there's no need to "reach" for a QB?

If it's the first, I'd like to hear your reasoning on each guy. If it's the second, I'm at a loss for how people think you can have sustained success in today's NFL without a really good QB. Take this year's playoffs. With the exception of Alex Smith, the other 11 QBs were all in the top 15 in ESPN's total QBR rankings. The other guys in the top 15 were Romo and Cutler/McCown combo, who missed the playoffs on the last day of the season to a better QB on the list. With rare exceptions, you can basically predict the standings by looking at nothing but QB rankings.

I voted for Teddy. I may change my mind after combine, but for now it's TB. I think if they keep the first pick it will be either Teddy, JFF, or Brottles.

I voted for Teddy. It sucks not having a prospect like Luck sitting there, but I like what I see/read about Teddy. He seems to be a fairly safe pick and the most polished of the QB prospects. I'd go with him and then work on building a good OL and D.

Trading that 2.1 pick might be a better option. I'd try to parlay that pick into a 2015 #1 and a mid-to-late 2014 #2. Actually, if I'm going to trade 1.1, I'm looking at getting a 2014 pick and a 2015 #1 out of it. It should be a pretty good QB draft next year so you might as well load up for next year if you're going to gamble and move out of 1.1.

What would Daryl Morey do? roll the dice; are we trying to win championships? Manziel!

draft picks are over rated, what did Mario get us?

"Miley" Manziel is clearly rolling the dice, but who knows maybe O'Brien will play it that way ?
Mario ? What, we didn't get to the SB with him ? Well Andre didn't get us there either. Mario was a solid pick, the best defensive player we had while he was here.

Morey is the most overrated GM in all of North American professional sports. I have no idea why anyone would base any action on what Morey might do. Unless you were planning to do the opposite.
