So game is announced at 430 , eastern time, Saturday.
Hope team gets its act together after a couple disappointing outings.
12-4 is good but ...

Well, it's a new season.
I hate the path we now have more than anything else.
If we win against Cincinnati, we have to go to New England. That game would be an ass-beating.

Playing Denver would be an ass beating too. Hell, the way these guys are wimpering out, Cinci might be an ass beating.

I think we would have a much better shot against Denver than New England.
Putting this in here because it is playoff related.....
From Walterfootball.com (http://walterfootball.com/picks.php):
Record Versus Playoff Teams:
To determine which teams are overrated and underrated this postseason, let's look at how they've fared against other playoff teams in 2012 (first record is straight up; second is against the spread):
AFC Playoff Teams:
1. Denver - 2-3 (2-3 ATS)
2. New England - 3-3 (4-2 ATS)
3. Houston - 3-4 (3-4 ATS)
4. Baltimore - 2-4 (1-5 ATS)
5. Indianapolis - 3-2 (3-2 ATS)
6. Cincinnati - 2-2 (2-2 ATS)
NFC Playoff Teams:
1. Atlanta - 2-0 (2-0 ATS)
2. San Francisco - 3-2 (2-3 ATS)
3. Green Bay - 2-4 (2-4 ATS)
4. Washington - 2-2 (2-2 ATS)
5. Seattle - 4-1 (5-0 ATS)
6. Minnesota- 3-4 (3-4 ATS)
A couple of things.....The slippery Falcons ended up only playing two playoff teams during the regular season . Texans and Vikings had to play a whopping 7 playoff teams.... Seattle was the betting champ..... Texans went 9-0 against non-playoff teams....
Lost Sharpton again. Signed Mister Alexander to take his spot and I would bet he is active this week.
Definitely need depth for next year.
Sounds as if the Law Firm is iffy for this game. Strained hammy prior to last weeks game. Has been pretty serviceable for them, and would sting a bit if he can't go.
I'm OK with that. ;)
Edit: Whelp, scratch that. He's back at practice today.
Amazingly, as of 2:30 this afternoon, over 6,000 playoff tickets are available via StubHub, with a low price of $86.00 for some singles.
For a playoff game.......
Is the Houston fanbase spoiled amongst our riches of a single playoff appearance in our brief history that they want to bail on Act II?
Would think some are pissed, some are opportunistic, and some are brokers, but geez.... 6,000+?
Being 1 of 12 with a seat at the big boys table doesn't account for much these days.
Since I can't seem to get into work mode, I looked up the others as well:
Seattle @ Wash has 9,800 tix available
Indy @ Bmore has 5,100 tix available
MN @ GB has 3,800 tix available.

Been saying for a little bit that it seems like Texans fans are incredibly spoiled for no reason. Look at how they've treated Schaub in recent weeks, as if we have a QB situation as bad as Arizona's or something. Ridiculous.

Third weekend in a row the Texans are favored ? What could that mean if anything, third time charm or a jinx ?
I'm wondering if the Chuckster has peered into his crystal-ball for the outcome of this game, or maybe that's something that works best for him post-game ? Hopefully he won't be too reticent with his forecast ? Personally I don't have a clue or a feel what the Texans are gonna do Saturday, but I'm bracing myself for the worst.
Less than 24 hours later, 3100 tix remain. Pretty interesting stuff. Folks making a quick buck I suppose. According to the main site, face value tix thru ticketmaster sold out in 15 minutes.

I'm guessing most fans thought that the Texans wouldn't be playing this weekend and made other plans. Selling an event one week's notice isn't as easy as it sounds. Even if fans had anticipated this, they wouldn't have known whether to set aside Saturday or Sunday, afternoon or evening until Dec. 30th.
And, yes, Houston fans have always been fickle. They've had their hearts crushed a few times before.

Apparently today is the 20 year anniversary of the collapse in buffalo
From PFT:
Crocker doubtful, Green-Ellis probable for Saturday
Chris Crocker missed practice all week and he’s been listed as doubtful for the Wild Card game against the Texans thanks to a quadriceps injury. That likely means Nate Clements or Taylor Mays will move into the starting lineup as Crocker sits out the playoff rematch with the Texans.
OUCH..... :(
Houston Texans (@HoustonTexans) tweeted:
The #Texans have placed ILB Tim Dobbins on the Reserve/Injured list with an ankle injury
Houston Texans (@HoustonTexans) tweeted:
The #Texans have signed rookie ILB Cameron Collins from the practice squad to the active roster
Nice to see these 2 should be a go.
Tania Ganguli (@taniaganguli) tweeted:
#Texans listed guard Antoine Caldwell as doubtful for tomorrow's game. All others probable including Alan Ball and Brooks Reed.

I'm glad you agree. Geez. I feel like I'm one of the few that's pumped about it. 20 other teams/cities would love to be in our spot right now.
I hope we can bitch about a 12-4 season and a playoff berth every year.

Let's see if Schaub can beat Yates' numbers from last year...
Late money coming in on mostly the Bengals. Not enough, IMO, to turn on alarm bells but concerning, nonetheless..... Spread is now down to mostly Texans by 4 (http://www.madduxsports.com/nfl-odds.php). I think the general consensus for this game is that it is going to be close - like decided by a FG or less close.....
---------------------------------------
Colin Cowherd of ESPN Radio has been nothing short of astonishing this year picking against the spread. He's been hitting at a 70% clip (which is tough to do picking straight up) and gamblers have been tailing him for weeks. Every week he comes out with "The Blazin' Five" - his top 5 picks for the week and this week he's picking Cincinnati to cover the spread but the Texans winning 20-19...

Today is the day! I know it's been disappointing lately but all that crap goes out the window now.
Get out there and do what we do. Don't make mistakes. Those will hurt the most. Be disciplined, take care of the ball, etc.
Let's get out there and set the tone early. We play best with the lead, so let's get a lead.
Go Texans!

other that the one INT, Schaub has done pretty good today seems to me, so far. okay,
another first down run by Foster.
feels good now. kneeling it out.
yeeha, on to NE Pats next week.
Ok, right now I think we can take the Pats if we clean up the penalties and dumb INTs.

We played it conservatively and it worked today. They knew the defense would dominate and Dalton wouldn't do much. Won't work against a Brady so as long as we play a bit more aggressively on offense and don't dig ourselves a hole again with stupidity, we can win that game.

Xcept for one play, really good game for Schaub. I'm thrilled that my Texans won, they've seemed to have lost their way in the last 4-6 weeks but this might be some redemption for them ?
Next week vs the Pats ? Sure, it's a really long-shot, but I'm thinking the Texans will be into the challenge, I'm thinking they will be fired up ?

Our OL protecting Schaub really well today, no sacks today, against league leading sack team with 51, was one of keys to game. nice to see our OL come together at the right time. hope it continues.

I recorded this game and I will watch my recording because I want to see most of all what was going on the with the Oline, who played well and who didn't ? I know that Ben Jones started at RG, but also Brandon Broods took quite a few snaps there. And yea, that was a big penalty against him in the RZ, but in general wonder how he performed ? Oh yea, didn't Newt go all the way at RT ?

I'm happy the Texans won!!! But this conservative play calling will only get us beat in New England.

I actually think that conservative play calling is fine if the Texans control the LOS and finish in the red zone. I don't think it will be absolutely impossible to win next week. Very, very difficult but not impossible at all.
Yep, re: New England, I'm thinking I don't expect anything close to what happened on their last trip there..... I haven't seen a spread, yet, but I expect it to be in the 8 or 9 range...maybe higher....
Tony Dungy on NBC doesn't like their (Texans) chances in NE but he's become an "opposite endorsement" person lately (i.e. fade his picks).... He's beginning to get on my nerves (and BTW, some people should never go with the shaved head look, Dungy and his taxi cab ears is one of those people)....

He lost some credibility with me when him and Harrison gushed over Joe Webb and how great he is before today's game. They actually used the line "that's what makes Joe Webb special." Dungy was sure it was a good thing for Minnesota. Either he was just an NBC stooge selling the game or he had an agenda beyond football that would explain why he wanted Joe Webb to succeed so badly.
Either possibility resulted in a terrible analysis job.

Ya, I saw that. That's part of it.... Why? Such enthusiasm for a backup QB? I liked the Packers a whole lot more to win after I saw that....
I suppose what irks me most is his favoritism toward the Colts organization and whoever Peyton is playing for - they can do no wrong..... Many times I've seen a film analysis where a player screws up and Dungy will chime in "you can't do that!"... Like the player made the mistake on purpose or something.... Heat of the battle, s**t happens, ya know? Hindsight is 20/20. He was a player himself so he should know how it goes sometimes.... Not saying he's a totally worthless analyst, just very annoying sometimes....

There were plenty of talking heads on TV predicting Texans had lost "it" and momentum, and would loose today.
Maybe we won a few analysts back today but already looks like very few giving us much chance against Pats either next Sunday.
I guess Texans have grown some thru their recent losses, learning how to forget quickly their penalties or bad ref calls or thier own bad plays and keep going.
Thought I saw a stronger Schaub today on mental toughness side.

I think the Texans' best chance to succeed is to pound the rock against them but I think they can get the Pats off balance if they come out in the first series in a hurry-up. Shanny and Kubiak used to script the first 15 plays in Denver. Why not run them in a no-huddle hurry up and give Belichick a dose of his own medicine - maybe even with two WRs and two TEs with one back?
Do this in practice too so the defense gets used to the pace. Script it and run it with a stopwatch so they don't spend much time at the line before snapping the ball. If it works right, you get their defenders gassed right from the start in the cold air and wondering if they are going to see that all day.
OK, Pats opened as 9 pt favorites (http://www.madduxsports.com/nfl-odds.php) and it has already jumped to 10.5 in a couple of books....
I'll take all them points.... I think it will be closer than John Q. Public thinks it will be....
