View Full Version : New Yahoo Pickem League for IntheBullseye - starts Week 9
I started a new NFL pickem private group for Inthebullseye members (or anybody else) if you're interested. This is just a pick-the-winner of each NFL matchup each week - no spread. Though the season is half over, these are still fun to play.
Sign up by going here:
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem
and enter these numbers:
Group ID# = 74231
Password = 2988
Use the same link above to get back to your picks each week. When you sign up, there is an option to get an email reminder each week and I highly recommend making sure you get the reminder.
Also, please don't pick Monday's night game of San Francisco vs. Arizona. Please start by picking Thursday Night's game of Kansas City vs. San Diego which is the official start of Week 9 when it is available. This will keep everything even. If you're reading this a few weeks late, don't worry about it, go ahead and jump in and join.
No prize offerings for the overall winner at this point in time - just bragging rights.. If all goes over well, maybe we'll do it again next year complete with a prize or gift card...
This will give us dead survivor pool people something to do the rest of the year.....:p

Thanks for setting this up, I'm in.

Thanks to you and chuck for joining. Still looking for more players....
It was very easy to set up and Yahoo keeps track of everything for you..... Yahoo also does survivor pools - again, very easy to set up and keep track. They have an option to set up for 1, 2 or 3 strikes you're out in the survivor pool. Some of us need the 3-strike version, eheh. Perhaps we all should go there next year for the survivor pool? I'm playing over there (Yahoo) in some different groups and its very nice once you get used to it....

Arky, this is a great idea! I missed out on several of these at the beginning of the season, and I always enjoy them. Thanks for setting it up. I'm in!

Hey, that is quick and easy, so I picked a bunch of upsets, just for fun.

No problem, welcome and good luck.

Welcome. Oy, sometimes that strategy works the wrong way but you never know with the NFL... Takes a lot of guts to pick against a strong favorite if you think an upset is more likely...

Appraently this year underdog is winning like 62%. Normal years iyts 52%.
And 31 games have been decided in last 2 minutes or overtime.
Makes it interesting.

Where does this data come from? Spread or non-spread data?

Not sure where Gil Brandt got that. Further said upsets in NFC teams was even higher than that.
Fits with lots of teams we thought would be good but a poor record up to now.
.
OK, well, if he was talking about spread betting, then it makes sense. When you're just picking the winner, like this pool is, you'll find yourself picking "favorites" a lot. If you don't, you won't do very good. Nobody cares if New England covered the -12 spread, it's whether they won the game or not... :)

Well, my underdog strategy didn't work to well last wk.
See how it goes picking mostly favorites with one exception this week.

It looks like this week (Week 15) will produce a wide spectrum of picks in pick 'em leagues like this one. Some folks could gain a lot of ground, others could fall. There are a lot of games that could go either way this week. Should be fun to track it all today.

Close race here with Arky and Chuck very lucky and barely in the lead.
Will anyone catch them, just for fun of course.

I was in 6th place and out of it, then I left the country for a week with no internet and no way to pick, so I'm gone to the bottom of the heap.

We all pick the Skins so good old chuck is in the lead heading into the playoffs.

Weak sauce. You know perfectly well that your forgetting to submit picks was subliminal capitulation to CHUCK, ALMIGHTY KING OF ITB PICK 'EM.

We all pick through the playoffs, yes? I have no idea how this thing plays out as the season ends.

Yep, that should be the way it works out - pick all the way to the SuperBowl.
Yep, Keith makes good picks ....when he picks..... ;) Suggest everyone get the email reminder - it comes in handy. If you don't have it going, go to the "My picks and groups" tab and then the "Edit my info" tab...
Thinkin' about maybe starting a "spread" league to go with a pickem league next year. Picking ATS can be very, errr, humbling.... Last Sunday I got 12 correct in the "straight up" league and just 5 correct in my ATS league....

Well, WMH is either a genius or he decided What the hell, I'll just go totally contrary and see what happens.
Like Bob can always be counted on to comment on a left-handed quarterback I always say that this is easily my favorite weekend of the entire NFL season. So far, so good on the quality of the games.

I'm surprised only the house contrarian and I picked the Seahawks.

And almost all of us picked the Texans. Incredible. I'm curious about everyone else's thinking but for me I changed my pick after the Ravens' win. I foolishly thought that would motivate the team into playing better, well enough to win.

Mine was a total homer pick. No logic, just hoping my favorite team would pull off the upset. I truly thought the Texans would cover the spread (they didn't), so that was disappointing, too....

These pick'em contests illustrate to me why I gave up gambling.....
And ditto what Arky said on the homer pick on the Texans.....

Don't know how I did it, but I didn't save my picks 2 weeks ago. I didn't catch it until the middle of the 1st game. I had picked San Fran, but that pick went out the window. I did pick New England so I went O fer. (sigh):o
Looking forward to watching the game tomorrow. Looks like it's between Chuck & Arky. Good luck, y'all.
