Miami Dolphins announce rookie QB Ryan Tannehill will start the season opener in Houston. The Texans have never lost to the Dolphins in their franchise history and I'm licking my chops thinking of what the Texans will be able to do to a rookie quarterback playing in his first NFL game. Dial up the blitzes....

I wish him (Tannehill) a long, fruitful career - just not his first game....

Hopefully, the Texans haven't forgotten what a rookie QB (Sanchez) did to them on opening day at home a few years ago... That one game was one of the reasons they didn't make the playoffs that year (2009)....

Here's hoping he eats grass multiple times.

I'd rather face a rookie QB in game 2 than the opener. Tannehill will have several weeks to prepare for this game. Week 2 will be a speed course in comparison.

That said, this Texans defense is tough for anybody, rookie or otherwise, so I imagine they'll handle this just fine. As Tannehill already knows by now, the Dolphins offense just lacks weapons and will struggle all year.

It should be noted that when Sanchez started his career against us, it was back when our defense was a shambles under the past defensive regime and the Jets were launching their new defense under Rex Ryan. I don't think the Dolphins can match in defense that the Jets had that day nor can they run the ball as well as the Jets did that day, making Sanchez simply a support player.

Then again, we'll have to survive the weekly Matt Schaub WTF interception which we got a break from after his foot injury but we saw it again vs. Carolina.

Yes, those are some good points. And the Texans are now favored by 10 against Miami - up from 7 (i.e. the public is all over the Texans).

But in hindsight, that loss to the Jets on opening day 2009 just threw a monkey wrench into the whole season. The Texans were favored by 4 and just kinda choked like dogs that afternoon...
