According to the chron.com (http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/05/texans-sign-five-of-their-draft-picks/) the Texans have signed 5 of the 8 guys drafted.

They have signed their 4th to 6th round picks. That leaves only three guys to sign.

The collective bargaining agreement appears to have made the process of signing the draft picks go much smoother than in the past.

From the link pk posted: Center Ben Jones (fourth round), receiver Keshawn Martin (fourth), defensive tackle Jared Crick (fourth), kicker Randy Bullock (fifth) and offensive tackle Nick Mondek (sixth) signed four-year contracts.

I wonder if the bonuses are contingent on making the team (or the PS). Otherwise, $97,000 to sign a sixth-round choice who may never play seems rather wasteful.

Don't believe so, I believe they get that when they sign. Perk of being drafted I suppose.

Yeah, the bonus is theirs whether or not they make the team. The bonus amounts are basically slotted based on draft position, especially for the guys drafted after the second round. Good work if you can get it!

That $97k bonus though is just a fraction of what the base min is going to be for rookies that make the final 53.

Also, iirc, if one of these guys are cut after June 1st, the Texans aren't obligated to accelerate the entire bonus onto the 2012 salary.

$97k just to be a sixth-round pick and these guys have the nerve to complain about brain damage? No wonder the NFL has no shortage of players wanting to leave school early and sign up for this.

Yeah, just a few months and we get to see how these guys do. Seems like a good group including several of 21 UDFA that were signed. We should be close to 90 needed for training camp.
