...the search for Jacoby's replacement continues...

WMH

I'm seeing one of following for us in the 2nd:
Sanu - WR - Rutgers
Quick - WR - App St.
Massie - OT - Ole Piss
Adams - OT - OH St.

Hill has the measureables but my gut tells me Randle is going to be a better all-around WR and is a better fit for this team. I'm hoping they can somehow snag him, but they'll have to move up to get him. No way I wanted Fleener at #26, but he'd be intriguing in this offense and I might move up a few picks to get him if he starts to drop. I have a feeling he'll go to the Colts, though, since he's Luck's buddy and they have zero legit TE's on roster. If it's WR, I assume Jeffery, Sanu and Quick will all be there. Massie is intriguing. I don't think they touch Adams.

You could be entirely wrong about Hill. I think he will be a monster in a year or so. Randle may do well also.

You could be entirely wrong about Hill. I think he will be a monster in a year or so. Randle may do well also.Never said Hill will be a bust. I like him and he may very well have a nice career. I just think that Hill will be a straight-line speed threat, whereas, Randle will be a better all-around (blocking, slot, middle and deep) threat and fits better with what this team needs from a #2. JMHO. It's sort of the Mike Wallace vs. Antonio Brown syndrome. They're both great players, and one team might prefer Wallace's straight-line speed and another team might prefer Brown's all-around style. I think the Texans need a Brown-type WR as opposed to a Wallace-type WR (atlthough, I'll take anything to upgrade what we have now).

nunusguy
04-27-2012, 04:42 PM
I'm listening to 610 AM radio right now and FWIW John McClain, a guest on the show, just said very confidantly that the Texans WOULD NOT take a WR UNTIL the 3rd round. I for one will be surprised if that scenario plays out, but we'll see?

I think I'd go CB or OL if Round 2 went this way:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/27/2012-second-round-mock-draft/

I'd probably take Trumaine Johnson or Josh Robinson over Sanu.

Jeff Fisher slammed his glasses and "uttered a one-syllable expletive" (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--rams-get-their-man-michael-brockers--ndash--after-their-first-two-choices-were-drafted.html;_ylt=AuH7It1abQTWn2pv53ZSz) when the Jags jumped up to take Blackmon in front of them, so it looks highly likely that one of those receivers comes off the board at #33.

Well, Quick was kind of unexpected so that drops down a couple of our guys.

There went Glenn and Martin, the two I hoped would fall to us. Schwartz was already taken. Will it be Massie? Sanders? Potter?

There goes Hill to the Jets. Randle is still on the board.

So, who's going to be the retired Texan when it's our turn? Domanick Davis? Aaron Glenn? Most of the guys they bring up are short so the Commish doesn't look like a dwarf.

I'm thinking Davis, or whatever he goes by now. They've all been good (or better) retired players who were drafted by the team whose pick they're announcing. For the Texans that's a very short list to choose from. Chester Pitts is still active, isn't he? I doubt they'd pick him anyway since he was very outspoken about Goodell during the lockout.

I could go with that but higher-rated OTs are still there and the only question would be whether they fit the ZBS.

If Mosely is what you want, take a WR now and take Mosely early in round three.

Roy P

Liking the trade. We can get a Big WR & a slot/KR guy. Plus a couple OL. Hell, we could get a luxury like an ILB to replace DeMeco Ryans.

I have Mosely as the highest rated OL who is a ZBS fit because of his athleticism... maybe Nate Potter or Tom Compton later on to develop, but Mosely could start day one.

CBS Sports analysis of Posey:

Positives: Good quickness off the line. Has size and quickness to get off NFL press. Generally reliable receiver capable of making difficult catches in traffic over the middle or one on one down the sideline. Adjusts to poor throws in any direction. Finds his way through traffic on crossing routes. Comes back to the ball to help his scrambling quarterback. Gives effort as a blocker on run plays. Negatives: Inconsistent high-pointing passes. Allows too many throws into his body when facing the quarterback. Does not own elite speed. Freezes at times when trying to juke defenders in space. Walls off his man as a blocker, allowing them to shed and make the play outside.

HPF Bob
04-28-2012, 10:16 AM
CBS Sports analysis of Brooks:

Strengths: Possesses a physically imposing frame with broad shoulders and a wide base - big body with a strong, thickly built frame. Has good natural strength and raw power with the ability to be a mauler in the run game. Plays with a firm base with a stout anchor, holding his ground at the point of attack. Keeps his pad level low and flashes consistent leverage. Stays balanced and patient in his stance. Has overpowering upper body strength to overwhelm and eliminate defenders from the play - jolts with his hands and shows a strong initial push. Quick off the snap and moves well for his size. Offers versatility with experience at left tackle and both guard spots. Has very good starting experience as a four-year starter (42 career starts) and was honored as a Second Team All-MAC performer three-years in a row (2009-11).

Weaknesses: Has some bad weight on his frame and has added over 60 pounds since he enrolled at Miami (OH) - something that needs to be monitored. Carries a lot of weight and it shows at times, looking sluggish with heavy feet when trying to cover a lot of ground. Doesn't have great range and wasn't asked to do a lot of pulling for the Redhawks. Doesn't always explode off the snap. Heavy-handed in pass protection with a bad habit of grabbing, which attracts holding penalties. Will allow his body to rise at times and he is caught too high. Needs to improve his awareness and overall vision to pick up extra rushers. Needs to stay disciplined and play smart, cutting down on the penalties and mental lapses. Has an inconsistent mean streak and needs to develop more of a finishing attitude - too much of a passive blocker for his size

Hmm. I can see some Seth Wand similarities although more experienced at a higher competition level. Sounds like a guy that really needs to be pushed both on and off the field (and away from the cafeteria).

Never said Hill will be a bust.
