According to Investors.com (formerly Investors Business Daily), the Houston Texans were the most Republican-leaning team in the NFL, based on campaign contributions by owners, employees, players and spouses.

This column (http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article/587541/201110111058/Which-NFL-teams-support-Republicans-and-which-are-just-dumb-.htm) claims:

The top Republican-leaning teams are the Houston Texans, San Diego Chargers, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals.

The Texans' owner, executives, players and spouses gave $293,000 to politicians since early 2009, 98% of it to Republicans. The Chargers gave $172,000, 79% to the GOP. The Jets $148,000, 80% to Republicans and the Cardinals donated almost $120,000, 97% to Republicans.

The top Democratic-leaning NFL teams are the Miami Dolphins, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks.

Our former HPF.com resident whackjob was fond of calling the Texans and their fans "Bushnecks" and here's a piece of confirming evidence.

In fairness, though, players are transitory and political contributions may reflect certain local races and not particularly an ideological position. Plus, it doesn't break this down to whether the money is coming from the owners, players or the front office.

This may say less about a team as it does which owners are more politically active and the extent they may have contributed to local or statewide races.

If you want some raw numbers...

Google spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArZJzmIoVZE0dGw2ZVB4eGswVVlqUFA2cDJEYXdKU Wc&hl=en_US#gid=0)

The Browns are either the cheapest or the smartest, depending how you look at it. The entire organization gave just $750 in political donations.

Heterodoxy is generally defined as "any opinions or doctrines at variance with an official or orthodox position".[1] As an adjective, heterodox is commonly used to describe a subject as "characterized by departure from accepted beliefs or standards" (status quo). Under this definition the noun heterodoxy is synonymous with unorthodoxy, while the adjective heterodox is synonymous with dissident.

However heterodoxy is also an ecclesiastical term of art, defined in various ways by different religions and churches.
