Peter King slags Texan fans as "not passionate."

Link (http://theredskinsblog.com/2008/07/25/at-the-park-today-talking-to-peter-king/#more-233)

"The fans of the Houston Texans are not passionate. The fans of the Arizona Cardinals are not passionate. I mean, I came out here this morning, and all you see are people who are just NUTTY about the Redskins. They’re out of their minds. They’re crazy."

Er, maybe if Peter King ever bothered to say anything worth writing an email about with the Texans, he would hear from us. But I don't think he should question our passion for our team.

My thoughts on this here (http://imatexan.com/profiles/Texans_Chick/profile_blogs.asp?post_id=175):

Lots of good fans on this MB who know how to write a sentence or three. I suggest telling Mr. King how it really is in Texans land for someone who has probably not spent much time in these parts.

Here is his email (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/peter_king/07/27/favre.camp.deadline/index.html).

In the interview, it sounds like he equates being passionate about a team to being angry at him. So I guess he is asking for some angry emails. Or figures that he can say whatever he wants to a Redskins blogger and Texans won't call him on it.

Please take a moment to send him your thoughts. It will be fun.

....uh....every time i stand up for more than six seconds or to get out of the way of someone i get yelled at to sit down. every time i stand up and cheer i feel like i'm bothering someone. i'd say we are glad to have football, but i don't pretend like we have crazy fans. mr. king is right, at least in my section.

As someone origionally from KC where the Chiefs fans are among the best in the league, I certainly don't put our fans in their category. The "Luv ya Blue" days
from I've heard were at that level , though I hadn't arrived in Houston yet. I do remember watching the MNF game on TV when Campbell had the 99 yard TD run and I think it was against Miami. Oilers fans passion was clear, even to the TV viewer. When and if we can recapture that here in Houston, then we'll have truely passionate support at Reliant.

Yeah, that was Houston pro football fans at their finest.

IMO, Houston has good and knowledgeable football fans - the teams just haven't been real good - there hasn't been a whole lot to jump and holler about through the years. I think this gets mistaken for apathy but I think in truth, it takes a rare fan to hang on during the lean times. I can see easily where many fans and casual fans may have developed a show-me-something-first-and-then-I'll-support-you attitude....

Even the Texans haven't had that many "moments" with the fans, yet. So many times, I see the camera panning the crowd and the fans are just frothing waiting for something to cheer about and it never comes. Two of the better moments from last year were the comeback against the Titans and Andre Davis' two returns against Jacksonville. Now, *that* was some entertaining football - the fans were going nuts. Also, Peter King needs to check out the Denver game from last year....

i went to buy my little sister an ice cream trying to beat the halftime rush so i'm missed the first one, came back about the time they were kicking again after the half yelling, "do it again, i missed the first one!" and sure enough #2 came screaming down the field. i felt that one was just for me!! haha...

Yeah, I remember the "Luv Ya Blue" years. That was great, but you wait, we will have our "Toast the Texans" attitude before long, you will see.

I guess the girls junior high lacrosse season hasn't cranked up yet.

Peter Queen's an amateur.

I reserve my pearls for truly ignorant douchebags and paragons of jackassery...you know, Raider fans and "Houston's Bitch"!

Man I would trade those tickets in and move. Sounds more like a Rockets game than a Texans game. The posters on this and other Texans bbs are the real passionate fans. We live eat and breath Texans football. We scour the interenet every day even during the offseason hoping to find even a morsel of Texans info. Once we start winning regularly King will see the passion as crazy fans will start coming out of the woodwork. Were any of you there for the first Dallas game? That what we (Texans fans) are capable of. Give us a winner and we go crazy.

right. but about 99.8% of the fans at the game don't post on message boards. or 69,900 people have registered that don't post. either way the texans don't have the unruly, hopeless type of crazy fandom that other teams have.
