Receiver/kick returner Trindon Holliday, a sixth-round draft choice, has agreed to a four-year, $1.886 million contract with the Texans.

This would put Holliday's signing bonus in the neighborhood of $96,000 and make his cap hit roughly $344,000 ...if there were a cap this year, of course.

This was my favorite pick in the latter rounds. I had him in many of my mocks in the late rounds, I really think he could be a game changer.

This pick and the 7th round pick (the receiver out of Pitt) are reminders that the Texans have arrived at a level of talent where they are good enough that they can now use some of their late-round picks on long shots with big upsides but low probability for success.

Except for the fact that many talent starved teams spend picks on project guys every year. The Texans did it for years (Tony Hollings, Drew Henson).

I think it more likely indicates that they wanted an upgrade in the kick return game and they thought the 6th round is good value for that. I would be nervous if I was Andre Davis. Especially with committments made to Walter and Anderson in the past two offseasons.

I seem to recall Henson being a late-round long-shot that payed off handsomely with that sweet trade to Dallas for what, a 3rd round pick ?

Henson did pay off. My point was simply that taking a flyer on a high risk/reward guy is not just a thing talented teams do.
