In Texans_chick's blog she interview John Harris of the Sean and John show on 1560. He is a former football coach and has a solid eye for the prospects.

Some highlights

Maurkice Pouncey, Florida - Now, I'm a huge fan of Pouncey and have been since he was at Lakeland HS in Florida. But, when I go back and look at the seven characteristics noted above, I think he hits just about everything.

....

Earl Thomas, Texas - this is a pipe dream, so I'm just going to stop here.

.....

What stands out most about McCourty is his desire to stroke you after you catch the football. I love his physical nature and when you consider the physical impact Cushing, Pollard and Quin had on this team, another cog in the machine will only amp up the toughness/physicality that much more.

....

Major Wright, Florida - two words: Manny Johnson. Check the Youtube and you'll know why Wright could change the entire complexion of this secondary - he hits like a mack truck and Johnson felt it in the 2008 BCS National Championship game. Wright does fill in the alley well and tackles a bit better than Taylor Mays, but has pretty good range for a physical player. Played for championship defenses, so he knows how to win. I think his instincts are solid and he'll be gone by the Texans third round pick, for sure.

LaMarr Houston, Texas - a guy who was a running back when he came to Texas, transitioned to defensive end and finally to 3 technique when DC Will Muschamp arrived. Although some question whether Texas players are coddled and protected, I don't see that from Houston. Probably a second round option given his lack of immense size, but he's a whale of an athlete who'll be the best athlete on the Texans at that position as soon as he steps on the field at practice day one. He's got a little "running back flash" to him as well, but he'll grind inside when he needs to do so.
.....

Ryan Mathews, Fresno State - Having seen Mathews for a couple of years, I can say that I have unabashed "zone running back" man love for Mathews. I'm not surprised at all at the leap he's taking into the middle of the first round. He gives you just about all that you could want in a zone back and then some. He's a north/south runner, now called a "one cut" runner. In short, he makes up his mind and gets downhill in a hurry. He proved at the combine that he's got much more speed than at first glance. But, he's tough and will stick his face into a linebacker's chest in pass protection. He's a nice blend of power, vision and speed.

He doesn't have Chris Johnson-breakaway speed, but then again who does? He does though have enough wiggle in space to turn four yard runs into 14 yard jaunts. Love his burst, after the cut decision. Wait, what'd he just say? When Mathews decides it's time to turn it upfield and he plants that cut foot into the ground, the explosiveness from that point through the next three steps is outstanding. I think he's a guy who understands that he has to work for everything he gets - there were times at Fresno State when he sat behind lesser backs and had to wait for his opportunity. I think he's the perfect fit for the perfect team at the perfect time. That is IF...

John Harris is super and together with LZ they put together a great Draft-Show on 1560 on Wednesdays, 5 - 7 PM. Or if you're busy at that time, check out the recorded show on their podcasts at the 1560 website. And they'll take your phone calls.

Whright was leading with his helmet on that pop in the video. He won't get away with that in the NFL.

Exactly what I was thinking. Also, he should have been going for the ball.
