2009 Unofficial Salary Cap Info

Collecting NFL salary cap data is an inexact science at best. The information posted below is only as accurate as the reports published by the media. It also includes best guesses to plug holes where the media reports are lacking. This page would not be possible without the help of many others who have helped me along the way.

A couple quick notes...
* 2009 is currently slated to be the final capped year, and per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, there are a few rule changes specific to this year. Perhaps of most interest to fans is the insignificance of June 1st cuts. Unamortized dead money from players cut after June 1, 2009 cannot be forwarded to the uncapped year in 2010.
* Only the top 51 salaries are counted against the cap before Tuesday of Week 1. Since we're past that date, everything counts.
* Veterans with four-plus years of experience at league minimum salaries might qualify for the veterans' exemption and carry a cap figure less than their reported salary.
* Finally, and perhaps most importantly, bonus information and incentives, including option bonuses, roster bonuses, reporting bonuses, workout bonuses, Pro Bowl bonuses, etc., are the most difficult to obtain, especially in the cases of early round draft picks, major contract extensions, and free agent signings, so please take these estimates as just that... estimates.
